Two different BP readings on different arms at the same time? possible?
On measuring the blood pressure on right arm the reading was 89/54 and on measuring it on the left it was 113/73.
The BP instrument i'm using is OMRON wrist blood pressure monitor and has been synchronized with other traditional instrument and is pretty reliable.
I have noticed this happening a lot of times. I'm quite curious about this phenomenon.
So, I want to ask:
a) Is this normal? Two different readings of the same person, at the same time (almost).
b) I know it should not be making much of a difference but which hand should be preferred while measuring BP?
PS: I read somewhere, left is a preferred choice cuz its closest to the heart. Makes sense, but errr...

it can be different. The left is preferred not only because its closer to the heart but most often the less dominant arm therefore less muscle mass for a more accurate reading.

wrist blood pressure readings are inacurate especially on machines, per my physiologist friend. Best to do an anticubital reading (elbow level).
