to shy to wear shorts advice?

That approach by your mother doesn't sound right to me. Especially at your age, it sounds like she wants you to get attention from the boys. I was leg shy at your age, but I love to wear short shorts, now. Just wear them for short periods of time to get used to them. It probably would be OK for you to wear regular length shorts, not short shorts, start with those, then wear shorter ones later, if you feel comfortable.

Ok? Well if you really don't have anything to hide (marks of self injury type thing) then why are you so afraid of them? You can get shorts that aren't short shorts you know. Or get capris if you really can't stand shorts. Your family is just trying to look out for you. They probably think you're extremely uncomfortable and hot wearing long pants all the time in the summer, it's not like they're trying to turn you into a slut :p good luck! My advice would be wear the shorts.

I had this problem last year. I thought I had fat legs and I didn't like them, so I wore jeans most of the summer. If you think short shorts are slutty (in truth, some are. It depends on how you wear them and how short they look on your legs), go for bermuda shorts to start off with. They are just above the knee. Hunting for not-so-short-shorts can be hard. If you buy one pair and wear them around the house until you feel comfortable wearing them, then you can go outside jeans-less.

They want you to wear for two reasons they are "in" and everyone is doing it, kind of a peer/family pressure thing. And they want you to be comfortable with your body. They probably know that you are "leg shy" and they know your legs are find and want you to be comfortable with yourself. I don't think they are going about it the right way, but they seem to have pushy attitudes anyway.

There are a few things you can do. Tell your friends, mom and everyone else to back off. It is your body and you can pick what is right for you.

I think you should at least make an attempt though. You don't have to wear short shorts, you can always wear capris or longer shorts. That way everyone is happy, you have shorts but are still covered up.

And lastly you can start wearing shorts at home. You don't have to leave the house in them just chill in private. That way you get use to it but in your home where you feel safe.

Do you think you look bad in them, or do you just not like having your legs seen? I've worn shorts forever and I just feel comfortable in them(anything from daisy dukes to cargo shorts). It's not like you'll be the only one with shorts on, so you don't have to be worried about the only one "feeling naked". You could get some capris and then slowly get shorter and shorter until you are wearing shorts. But if you want to just wear pants then stick with that.

I would say it's because they are trying to give you some self confidence. When I was your age I didn't want to wear shorts because I was not comfortable because I thought I was fat and didn't want people to see my fat legs. Wear the shorts! You only live once and the vitamin D is so good for you! It really is more comfortable in the summer in them anyways! It's way too hot!

Be comfortable with who you are, the probably want you to wear them too because they think thert're related to a freak but it's nothing. Plus you can just ask them - it is summer so it is hot but you could wear tights or leggings under if you feel slutty or just not wear them at all up to you.

Well, it's natural for you to feel bare considering you never wear shorts, but I'll let you know it's okay to wear them. If shorter shorts really make you feel uncomfortable why not try wearing basketball shorts, or capris first. Then, maybe shorter shorts later. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to dress modestly, but its unhealthy and bad for your body to overheat. There are always summer dresses, capris, and longer shorts to keep cool. Hope this helps :)

same here. i think short shorts are slutty. and some guys think lustfully when they see a girl wearing those micromini short shorts. if you don't feel comfortable[especially with the slutty effect we both think of], don't wear them. so what if short shorts are some degrees cooler, you feel fine with your jeans.

if heat becomes a problem, may i suggest loose jeans/pants like camouflage pants, or knee-lengths.

there are alot of them. way better than those shorts that reveals everything[almost] you have down there.
