ebay question please help?

so a while ago I posted an item to sell on ebay

at the end it said i only had to pay for posting it 0.40 cents.

later on someone on ebay wanted to buy it from nigeria but at the end it was just a scam.

i did not send the item or recieve any money.

Ebay told me that the seller was removed because the were not on ebay anymore.

With that i removed my item from Ebay

Now i recieved an ebay email saying I need to pay 18.40

what do i do now? do i pay?? what should i do?

(stupid question here) can i just delete my ebay account and end of that?

Update:

@ryan

when i went to do that it told me to select which item but since i took the item of i cant

Ebay receives alot of this kind of behavior from time wasters and scam artists making it harder and for people who genuinely want to buy or sell on there. But Ebay are quite good with this sort of thing and if the sale wasn't completed (which they know it wasn't because they banned them) they have a Final Value Fee Credit where you will not be charged or will be refunded the final value fee for your item.

Go to the Resolution Centre on Ebay's website which you might find under the 'Help' tab, otherwise you can find it using the Site Map, this particular link would be located at the bottom of the webpage. From the Resolution Centre you will have an option as a seller where 'Payment has not been received', follow this step and they will guide you through the process from there. The end result would be that you would receive a Final Value fee Credit.

    *EDIT

If the person from Nigeria purchased the item then you will have been charged the final value fee. If you ended the auction before the item was actually purchased then you should only owe the listing fee and any additional features you may have chhosen.

If you did cancel the auction then the item should be found under 'Unsold items'.

If the auction was won by the 'Scammer' but not paid for then the item should be found under 'Sold items'. The item will be available for you to view either way.

When you go to the Resolution Centre you should be given the option to enter an Item Number. When you find the item the Item Number should be listed to the left of the title of the item or if you click on the item then the Item Number should be listed to the top right of the item description.

If this does not resolve your issue then I would advise that you contact Ebay. I don't know about Ebay.com but Ebay.co.uk has a customer support phone line where you can speak to an agent to discuss any issues. Log in to your Ebay account and click the 'Help' or 'Customer Support' tab to the top right of the webpage and then to the right should be a 'Contact Us' button, click this and either contact them via phone or email, I'm sure they willl be of help and credit your account.

Hi, just as Ryan said, but you will still be out of pocket your listing fee ($0.40c).

In future when seller, put in your listing that you don't accept bidders from Nigeria etc (you can choose the countries you ship to) and that you will cancel the bids of any bidders with under 10 purchase feedback!
