When the cat first came home it was probably really scared and was folling you for comfort, then he began to feel better and now wants to explore a little, he will warm up eventually and go back to normal, just wait.

be careful how you move around him, walk slow so that he knows he isn't in danger of getting stepped on....

I have one cat that follows me around, even walks on a leash. The other is skiddish because i accidentally rolled over onto him in my sleep.

They take things very seriously and if he is scared or has trust issues, youve gotta be really careful and find consistency in your relationship.

For example, make is dependable petting time before you go to bed, or when he is sitting in a certain place, say, on a certain chair, he gets petted. That way, he can develop a routine schedule, and gain some territory of his own.

He is just scared. Make sure you treat him well ALL THE TIME! If he runs away from you, ignore him. Ignoring him, but treating him well when he comes near, is the best thing to do.

You guys have to figure out and get used to each other. Know what your cat likes and dislikes. A month is not enough time to get to know each other.
