Is there a reason why Americans are afraid of Sharia Law?

As a European non-muslim I can tell you that there's a massive propaganda against Islamic values here in the west. It's coming both from the media and government. Common people rarely have a fair and balanced view when it comes to foreign cultures and political systems. As far as I can see, most americans are even more brainwashed in that manner.

The simple truth is that people in the west have fallen victims of their own success. Their wealth has made them materialistic and greedy, their power has made them disobedient and disrespectful of authority. Perverted freedoms have replaced moral decency, the young have no guidance and the wicked are being admired and revered. Like the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the modern west has given rise to unprecedented levels of decadence. Like Satan, they have rebelled against the laws of God, against goodness itself in the name of "freedom." It's a seductive path, however, and a lot of otherwise decent people have been tricked into accepting it.

Sharia could definitely be of use here. The west has become like a spoiled little child that really needs a lesson.

Sharia law is brutal and unfair. I have read the Sharia Law Manual, Umdat al Salik (Reliance of the Traveller) cover to cover. I know exactly what Sharia entails. I don't think it is right because it punishes people for morality crimes, such as flogging for unmarried sex, death for adultry, death for homosexuals and apostates. Sharia discriminates by religion and by sex. A woman's testimony is only worth half of a man's. A woman inherits less than a male. A woman is worth 1/2 of a man in cases of indemnity (blood money), and christians and jews are worth less than Muslims in indemnity cases. Under Sharia, there is no retaliation on a Muslim for killing a non-Muslim, he only need pay the victim's family indemnity. A mother or father is not punishable under sharia for killing their children or children's children. It is extremely difficult for a woman to get a divorce, while a man can divorce quicly and easily. Under Sharia, no other religions are allowed other than Islam, Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism. After a divorce, if a woman remarries, or if her husband is Muslim but she is not, she loses custody of her children. I could go on and on.

Those are some reasons why I do not think Sharia law is a good thing, and I do not think it should be practiced officially in America.

It's wrong because it's barbaric, it allows the murder of innocent people without consequences, it's unjust, it's abusive and it go completely against the US constitution. Sharia law has no place in the USA and I'm sure everyone in the USA would fight with all they have to keep it out of our country.

We are a democracy not a theocracy and I don't live under Islam therefore Sharia has no place in my life. You cannot force millions of people to abide by religious law when you have the separation of church and state and freedom of religion. Sharia is for Islam only.... our country isn't a bunch of Muslims.... we have people of every faith here and there is no reason Islam needs to take over and conform us all to your barbaric and inhumane laws.

Sharia law is a crime against human decency. The law is as bad as any crime. Can you really trust the statistics when they have a different definition of crime? When being a rape victim as a brutally punishable offence.

What kind of life is that where you must be afraid of your own government?

We don't fear it. Sharia simply is contradictory to Western law. Heck our opting to follow Western law instead of Sharia is as natural to us as Islam opting for Sharia instead of Western or Judaic laws.

Because it is quite tyrannical and thus badly opposes American freedoms. Your supposed "crime statistics" are distorted to suit your purposes, so they are quite deceptive. Mark Twain said there are three kinds of lies, and statistics is one kind of lie. There are websites with many lies, so why should I even bother to waste time looking at one I know is badly biased to favor Islam?

I bet you wouldn't favor Sharia law if you were a woman.
