How is it possible to accidently bid on an Ebay auction when bidding requires a series of steps?

I have been having a lot of problems lately with people "accidently" bidding on my auction items, winning them, and then saying, "My child was sitting on my lap and accidently hit the bid button."

Last time I bid on something, I had to click to bid, numerically enter a minimum bid, numerically enter a maximum bid, and then had to click again to confirm the bid. Now how in the world can someone "accidently" do all those steps? Sounds like some Ebay members have very talented children.

I could see if it was a Buy It Now because I have purchased some items this way and after clicking the Commit To Buy button, the Confirm Bid button did not appear. Instead it said something like, "congratulations, you just purchased this item". I did find that kind of odd, however, this "accidental" bidding is occuring on my auction items.

Also, when I cancel these transactions for the buyers, does Ebay keep track of how many times a member has had an item canceled? I do not want it to affect me as a seller by constantly having to cancel a transaction. Also, I don't want to be selling to people that consistanly back out of something simply because they just do not want it.

It really is impossible to "accidentally" place a bid; those people just changed their minds and don't want to admit it. Even if it were a child, they are the parent and they are responsible for that child's actions, it's still not an "accident".

Instead of canceling the auction let it go through and then tag the buyer as a non-paying buyer and let eBay deal with them.

Ebay is going up in increments of about .25 cents i imagine. the different 3 bidders might want to have placed a maximum bid of $30 yet ebay doesn't teach that. It basically shows the customary public sale going up via 25 cents or a small volume like that. You by no potential extremely recognize how a lot someone has positioned as their maxiumum bid and no matter if the bid says $5.40 and also you bid $6.00 as your maximum bid someone might want to nonetheless outbid you in basic terms via putting a larger maximum bid. i desire i helped because this at a loss for words me perpetually yet i eventually understand ebay

kelly is right on. I've had far too many children bidding on my items and then changing their minds. If you do a search here on YA for eBay you will find many kids asking how to create an account, how they can get out of paying, etc. Of course it's not always kids. Lots of adults are idiots too.

I no longer accept cancellations unless they give me a really good story I've never heard before. They can give me negative feedback but if they don't pay eBay will remove it. It's much better to give them a strike against their account than to let them keep doing it to other sellers.
