In Gethsemane, Jesus had to persist in prayer until his 'wrestling' with God brought what he needed to overcome the natural desire to avoid the cross. This was based upon Jesus knowing that the way of the cross was God's will for him. He told his disciples several times, before Gethsemane, that he had to die and then to be raised up. But in Gethsemane, the very thought of the agony ahead of him was enough to cripple him and render him unable to proceed. So he showed faith by persisting in prayer until the crisis was overcome and he was enabled to go ahead with the next step.

On the cross, Jesus had to practise faith by not succumbing to the temptation to call upon angelic help to bring himself down off the cross. He could have done that. It was an option. But, again, because he knew it was God's will for him to die on that cross, he kept trusting in God to bring him through and beyond the cross. He was believing in the promise of God that he would be resurrected and return to the glory he once had with the Father in heaven. Never has there been faith like that!

  • For many people in USA presently; faith means trust in God. Jesus 'trusted' God to raise him later.

Jesus never existed, the whole story is a lie.
