Mary is a intercessor?
Why not just pray to GOD! Or is mary his secretary taking all the prayers worth his time?
-The only trustworthy account about Mary is to be found in the Scriptures, where information is presented by those who knew her personally and, more importantly, whose writings were under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. In them we discover Mary as a wonderfully humble servant of the Lord who rejoices in Him as her Savior (Luke 1:47 - "And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior"). Obviously her heart was not immaculate nor was she conceived without sin because her Son, her Savior, came not for the sinless but "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). Therefore, Mary can be described as someone who was in need of a savior - just like you and I.
@ Michael- they are closer to God? we can pray directly to God!! he is omnipresent and hears his people
-God heard Rachel's prayer for a child, and Joseph and Benjamin were born (Genesis 30:22-24).
-David's prayer for deliverance was heard: "I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. ... In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears" (2 Samuel 22:4,7).

what part of GOD MY SAVIOUR do you not comprehend.... timeline.... THAT WAS BEFORE CHRIST WAS BORN!
When Mary & Joseph presented Jesus she was told -- your soul too a sword shall pierce and the thoughts of many hearts will be known/revealed. Jesus was pierced at the end on the cross. any mother can tell you - when you child hurts, you hurt. Mary and Jesus had a connection. Revelation tells us that there are Saints in heaven already -- i believe Mary is there and that sometimes, I need her intercession/help - just like God did, just like Jesus did and that hopefully, like at the wedding, Jesus will say - okay Ma, I'll do it ;)

First of all, consider that the Archangel Gabriel actually kneeled and said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you." Now to come to a humble poor young girl and use the word "Hail" (which is only used to honour people) says a lot about how God views this humble servant of His.
Also, notice how when Mary goes to help her cousin Elizabeth, Elizabeth receives her with joy and honour. Mary herself says,
"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed."
Notice how she calls God herself her savior and how she is given to know how ages will call her blessed.
Indeed many have called her blessed since her death by saying the "Hail Mary". Many of us still do it everyday. It started with the first half where we do say "Blessed are you among women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb Jesus". With time (though still many, many centuries ago) Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death".
I too was once blind to how very special Mary is---even though I was born and raised Roman Catholic, I basically was just Catholic by name.
The day I discovered the beauty of my Faith and the deeper beauty of Mary was a gift of God beyond words.
As for you questionning the fact that Mary was born without sin---do you not have any faith in the fact that God can do anything. Goodness gracious, He chose this mere mortal to carry and raise His Son---not to mention to suffer and console Jesus during His horrifying Passion and Crucifixion---she did indeed suffer the sword that pierced her soul that would reveal the thoughts of many that St. Simeon had predicted during Jesus' Circumcision.
Why is it so hard to believe that God would want to have come from a pure vessel and would have enjoyed to be with another person that was extremely pure?

<<WE DON'T NEED INTERCESSORS>>
Really? That's not what the Bible says:
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly
and respectful in every way" (1 Tim 2:1-2)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the charity of the Holy Ghost, that you help me in your prayers for me to God," (Roman 15:30)
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
(Colossians 4:3-4)
Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much" (James 5:15-16)

Think of it this way. God is the main character just like in a play. You have other actors too such as Mary and all of the other saints. They help deliver the message to God and communicate with the main character. Just like how on earth you tell friends and family to pray for you well you can tell saints in heaven to pray for you as well. It is more powerful too with the saints and Mary because they are in the kingdom so they are closer to God and can communicate with him like a next door neighbor. :-)

This is the opening prayer of our mass
Almighty and merciful God, you break the power of evil and make all things new in your Son Jesus Christ, the King of the universe. May all in heaven and earth acclaim your glory and never cease to praise you.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
BTW we love intercessors. You should never ask anyone to say prayers for you if you don't like intercessors. not even your spouse...

The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand. Rev 8:4

In that case, you must practice what you preach and Never Ever ask anyone at your church to pray for you, and you must scold harshly anyone who ever dares ask you to pray for them.
If those who are alive and with God, as the Bible says, can not pray for you, then neither can the sinners on Earth.

Heb 7:22By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
24But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Only God himself is called the hearer of prayer. God has not designated anyone else to hear prayers, he alone does this. We just ask for our prayer to be heard in the name of Jesus Christ his Son who is our mediator between God and us.
