Is it immature to block everyone who disagrees with you?

Yes, it's immature--to the point of making it look like they live in their own idyllic little world where everything looks just like they've got it in their own little head. But when you come to think of it, some people live their entire lives like that. They surround themselves with sycophants...yes men who agree with everything they say and see everything their way---then they disrespect and ignore everybody else. The thing is, you never grow that way.

I tend to hold to strong opinions. I like to think issues through, study things out, and have (respectful) debates. But I've always honestly believed that if you can't articulate the other side's argument in your own words, then you really don't know what you're talking about. That helps you to help other people, even when they're wrong. It also helps you to be able to change you're position when you find out that YOU'RE wrong. But what if you stubbornly just insist that you're right and refuse to even look at countervailing ideas or opposing arguments? If you WERE wrong, how would you ever learn?

So yes, Archie, I DO think it's immature to block everyone who disagrees--but beyond immature, it says a lot about their character and their overall approach to everything, doesn't it? And that's pretty pathetic.

Yes, you should lend an ear to a different opinion because you could be wrong in yours and when you block all others it could be damaging.

I think it is. Everybody has different opinions. Not EVERYBODY is going to agree with you.
