Is it hard to become a Wilhelmina model in Miami?

it's very difficult - Wilhelmina is one of the top agencies in Miami. They see over 100,000 aspiring models a year through open calls and people submitting photos and only sign 10-12 new models each year so you can see how much competition there is. But someone has to be one of those 10 who are chosen so why can't it be you

They don't make you do anything during an open casting call - you walk in and literally they look at you for 5 seconds and either say "you aren't what we are looking for" or "thank you, we'll be in touch if we are interested" or "your look is too commercial" -- all of which means you aren't model material. Or they will ask if they can take a Polaroid of you and watch you walk, then say they'll be in touch if they are interested. They won't take a picture unless they see there is some potential. That doesn't mean you will be signed, but at least it means they saw there might be something

If you want to see an open call at Wilhelmina, look on iTunes for a reality series called "The Agency" -- Just click on Episode 1, you don't even have to buy it. The first 30 seconds they show you for free is an open call at Wilhelmina. While that's the NY office, it's the same process at all of their offices. The Agency was a reality show that ran for 1 season on VH1 a few years ago that was all about Wilhelmina and the workings of the agency

Never put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to modeling - you should try to contact all of the other big Miami agencies -- Ford, Elite, Next, Michele Pommier, MC2, Mega, The Green Agency, Gilla Roos
