What current welterweight fighters would you pick to beat Victor Ortiz .....?

not named Pacquiao and Mayweather?

1. Joshua Clottey

2. Kell Brook

3. Jan Zaveck

4. Miguel Cotto (I know he fights @154 just now but could easily fight @147)

5. Shane Mosley

6. Mike Jones

7. Any others you can think of

Update:

@Sean- I haven't seen guys like Zaveck,Senchenko or Aydin fight either.Based on Mosley's recent performances i just can't see him defeating a young lion like Ortiz.

You make a good point about Clottey being inactive for so long.I've seen Mike Jones fight twice and have yet to be impressed but he has definite potential.I agree with the Kell Brook point being too green and he's yet to deliver on the world stage but i've been watching him closely since his career began and i've been very impressed by him.If he fought Ortiz tomorrow i would say it's 50/50 IMO!

I think the welterweight division without Pacquiao and Mayweather is the weakest it's been for years and Ortiz's impressive win over Berto makes him the 3rd best 147 fighter in the world imo.I felt Berto was the 3rd best after seeing Mosley's stock dramatically fall in recent years but now that Ortiz has beaten Berto,i place him at #3 in the rankings .....so i don't know why people can complain about Ortiz being a weak opponent for

Nobody on your list can beat Ortiz. The person, outside of Mayweather or Pacquiao, with the best chance to beat Victor Ortiz, is the man he took his title from, Andre Berto. Still, if there was a rematch, I'd give Ortiz the better chance to repeat his performance, than Berto to reverse it.

Ortiz will likely lose to Mayweather. It's not because he's not a good fighter. I think he can beat all the rest of the welterweights. That includes Mike Jones, who is still a bit inexperienced. Ortiz is strong and he would nullify Jones' strengths. He would do the same to Zaveck, who would be unable to hurt or discourage Ortiz.

After the Mayweather fight, Berto might have a chance to beat Ortiz. It depends on how steep his confidence level falls. I don't think he will suffer much but I do believe Mayweather will beat him decisively. If Ortiz can separate Floyd from the rest of the division, he will have no problem getting back to form. I don't see any of the others, on your list, beating Ortiz. Brook and Clottey would not be busy enough and Mosley just can't fight at the elite level anymore. The amazing part is that it's Shane's confidence that sufferes more than his physical facilities.

I have seen all in the current Top 10, at least once, and don't see any other welterweight, not named Mayweather or Pacquiao, beating Ortiz.

    Jr. and regular welter

Pacman, Floyd, all the guys you mentioned, Margarito, Judah, Berto in a rematch could definitely it was a close fight, Maidana already handled him, Tim Bradley, Khan, Paul Williams, Marquez, maybe some others guys.

Actually it's not a terrible fight for Floyd but I don't think Ortiz has much a shot so when a guy doesn't have much shot you automatically think it's not a good fight.

It is easier to say that all Welterweights can beat Victor Ortiz than to prove that he can win against any of them. Victor was a green horn in that division. The first time he fought is when he beat Berto who he himself is unproven. A second fight would be a better gauge to see how he will really compete with these Welters and to make a guess will be baseless. It is like answering a question on who you think Ishida who just beat Kirkland, can beat in that division. One was stranger to our eyes and the other is very new to the division. I would say that Victor can beat Shane Mosley because he is no longer competitive but other than him would be hard to guess.

    Edit,

A rematch with Andre Berto would be nice. Although I admit that I am impressed with Victor Ortiz when he beat him since I don't expect that kind of performance from him but to say that I am convince on his talent would be lying.

    Ok...Love this question!

Clottey is not an good fighter, but honestly, I think that would be a draw. Is he ever "current" considering we haven't seen his face since Pacquiao.

    Kell Brook is too green.

Zaveck is a mystery...I never saw him fight.

Cotto is a Jr Middleweight and Ortiz only fought once at Welter.

Of the top Welterweights in the world as the Ring see it, here are my Ortiz vs. predictions...

1 and 2 is Pacquiao and Mayweather...

    3) Mosley...Ortiz wins UD

    4) Berto...Ortiz just defeated UD

    5) Zaveck...see above

    6) Sechenko...see above comments regarding Zaveck

    7) Jackiewicz...see above comments regarding Zaveck

    8) Jones...I have seen him fight and think he could be a very even fight with Ortiz..

    9) Aydin...see above comments regarding Zaveck...

Wild Card...based on what he does in the ring, Brad Solomon might be trouble for Ortiz.

This question has given me homework for the weekend...research and youtube Zaveck, Aydin and Sechenko

EDIT: Jackiewicz has lost 9 fights and is at the end of his career. Zaveck has fought a bunch of nobodies but Jackiewicz.

i'd nonetheless have him extensive variety 2 at welterweight, and someplace at the back of Manny contained in the p4p scores. i can't in reliable faith placed him basically before Manny on any checklist thinking how a lot he struggled against Lamont Peterson basically final December. it is quite magnificent to work out how immediately Ortiz's rose contained in the minds of the conventional public, thinking this time final 365 days he grow to be gearing up for a combat against a washed up Vivian Harris, basically attempting to regain his self assurance, and now we are speaking approximately him being one win removed from Manny prestige. He would have extremely a welterweight resume nevertheless, would desire to the unthinkable happen next month.

Kell Brook, also Miguel Cotto and Zab Judah (if they were to move back up which I know is unlikely)

He barely won over Berto so I say Cotto or Mosley knocks Ortiz out.

    None of those save Cotto.

    NONE: He's 1# right now.
