Is it commom Cajun practice to cook crawfish in a plastic bag?
I've been to a few crawfish restaurants and they all serve their boiled/steamed crawfish in plastic bags. Do they cook the crawfish in these bags? Or are they just transferred into these bags after cooking? Aren't there health risks with heating plastic?

I am a Cajun, many generations of my family alone would laugh at anyone who would do such a ridiculous thing. Many types of foods now are packaged in plastic, and the instructions on many say to cook in the package usually in the microwave. There's a type of rice that comes in a plastic bag with holes in it and is cooked in a pot of boiling water. It's been around a while, but again, a Cajun would laugh at anyone who couldn't cook rice. So, to answer your question, if you're eating crawfish from a plastic bag, you ain't doing it right. And yes, there are many health risks associated with eating food that is prepared in plastic. Anything that is in the plastic will wind up in your food. Garbage in, garbage out, makes your body a garbage can. Eat real, especially a delicacy such as wonderful crawfish!!! Find a place that sells them fresh, not pre-boiled in plastic, which is what you're getting from crawfish in a plastic bag.
