Should I buy a Nook or Kindle?
I've been considering buying an e-reader, so I was wondering if I should get a Barne&Noble Nook or an Amazon Kindle? And why?
Thank you! :)
If I got a nook, I would just get the regular e-ink one, not the LCD.

Note on model names: B&N naming is that the "Nook" (aka Nook Classic) is their older monochrome ereader; "Nook Color" is their color ereader; and "Nook Simple Touch Reader" (aka Nook Touch) is their latest monochrome ereader.
Buy a Kindle or Nook Touch if you're most interested in long-run reading. Their E Ink Pearl display is better than Nook Classic's older E Ink Vizplex screen and much better than Nook Color's LCD screen for reading text. Deciding between a Kindle and Nook Touch: Kindle advantages: keyboard, 3G model available, 4G internal memory, Text-To-Speech, MP3 support. Nook Touch advantages: touch screen, less page-turn flashing, EPUB support, SD memory expansion port.
Buy a Nook Color if you're most interested in apps and games and browsing the web. Reading long-run text is as tolerable as it is with a computer monitor, and the Kindle's and Nook Touch capabilities in the non-reading areas pale in comparison.
Other than catching a great close-out deal, there's not much reason to buy a Nook Classic now that Nook Touch is out and now that Kindle will have support for library lending. The E Ink Pearl display found in the Kindle and Nook Touch has 50% better contrast than Nook's older E Ink Vizplex.

Buy a kindle 3 they are the best e-readers. They are fantastic, super light-241g, really thin, the quality is great, the screen has a great contrast, and they have a really long battery life. Don't look elsewhere as they are the best, having an ink based screen is better as it is like reading on paper, LCD screens like the iPad hurt your eyes.
The battery life lasts a month if you read an hour a day, with the wifi turned off. So in total about 30 hours. The kindle can store 2500 books, and on the amazon store, the ebooks are the cheapest. It is the cheapest, and best e-reader, as it has the best contrast ink screen, best battery life, and super light.
Have a look at the links below, some commercials, and a good review, and the amazon link.
The 3g one is not worth the extra money, as you download books at home, and surely you wont need to download a book when your are out. So i would get the normal WI-Fi one.
If it is just for reading, you shouldn't get a nook colour or any lcd, as it is bad for your eyes, and the kindle is easy to read, it's like reading a book, its the best contrast and best looking e-reader.
Now you might ask which kindle to buy.......
The ones with special offers have ads on them, look at the video of the special offers one below to see if you find it annoying, but they are not shown when you are reading, but on the home screen and on the screensaver.
The difference between the 3g and wifi is that with the 3g, you don't need to connect to wifi to download the books, and you can download the books anywhere, even in some other countries too if you are travelling too. The 3G is free too, no yearly subscription.
But the wifi just doesn't have 3g, and you can download the books at home when you are connected to wifi, so you can just download the books in advance, each book takes less than 60 seconds.
But with the 3g, if you leave wifi on the battery life is shorter than the wifi one with the wifi left on. So when you read you should turn the wifi off as you don't need it because you are just reading, not downloading.
So if you want to download books on the go and be able to download at places without wi-fi connection, and whilst you are on holiday, get the 3G.
If you just download the books at home, get the wifi one.
But it also depends on your budget too. Kindle is also very easy to use, and it is cheap too.
Reading on a kindle i find is actually better, because it is so easy, to turn the pages, it only weighs 241g- lighter, and much thinner than a paperback too. It is easier to take whilst travelling, if you have 3g then you can download abroad too. You can look on amazon.
The books are also much cheaper, and if you cant find it, you can download the book elsewhere, and use a free program called calibre to convert them and put them on your kindle. You have to convert the books to mobi, if you downloaded them elsewhere, like from itunes, or from the barnes and nobles store. But there are so many books and they are so cheap, and some great books are free too!

I have a black and white Nook that I love. I picked Nook over Kindle because you can lend your purchased books once to a friend and also get library books on a Nook. I'm cheap, so this was why I picked it as I'd end up spending less $$ down the road.
Now I want a Nook Color. I want that because you can do an Android override on it and use it like a tablet. I could find so many uses for that its not even funny!

Both have pros and cons
Kindle pros:
Life like page display
Soon to have the capability to download library books
Can ALSO exchange books between users
GREAT battery life.. up to a month
Kindle cons:
Not backlit
Can only access Amazon market place
Nook pros:
LED display
Can download honeycomb application (operating system that Android tablets use so can double as tablet)
touch screen
Nook Pros:
LED display (Extremely hard on eyes)
Horrible battery life (Up to 2 hours because of LED display)
I would say the Nook is more suitable for media consumers. The Kindle is more suitable for someone who is looking to use this device JUST to read.

I don't think t.v. is a waste products of the time, it's that I see no real use of it nowadays and there is nothing at all educational or beneficial on now. Children of today face 'entertainment' that is merely plain stupid and does not have any morale meaning behind them

Just read a publication and watch the identical booklet that is converted to that movie. You will find details in a written e book that we neglect seeing a movie. We don't have the sense of smell or color our minds can create.
