What is the process of purification to you?

and in the process do we purify those around us? is it simplification, knowing yourself, an attainment of freedom? is it an attitude more than an act or equally both? in the act do we have a physical and spiritual impact on those around us that helps purify them?

i know this is more than one q, I am just interested in a dialogue on the subject with you, any thoughts on the subject are cool here =) thank you!

    Spiritual Botany...

*Self-Purification - To intentionally place one-self into a grist mill for further refinement.

    Unpleasant at first but necessary.

Processing gold and other precious metals requires great heat, is it not so?

One must be stirred, shaken, and sifted in order for various impurities to float to the surface in order to be removed. Impurities can often be found to run very, very deep

The process of knowing one-self or the state of self-realization requires three items: Faith, Determination, and Certitude. The culmination of these three items, alters ones Attitude.

Developing a firm and unshakable Attitude is of utmost necessity, before one can begin to know one-self.

Refining one-self, causes a certain refinement within both ones acquaintances and ones environment.

Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Physics will eventually prove to mankind, that this is so.

    Peace be always with you.

Great Q & some very enlightened answers, especially the answers that spoke of knowing your self.

I really don't have anything more to offer that has not been said already except when a spiritual warrior begins the process of purification it begins with observing himself, stalking himself to first learn what self is truly.

By the time we begin this process we have accumulated programs & conditioning over 20, 30, or even 40+ years that most of us are convinced is us. It can be difficult in the beginning to discern the difference between self & Self. The true spiritual purification process ultimately is a multi. lifetime project & the single most difficult & rewarding thing we can do.

    It is the spiritual work!

A very wise man once used the analogy of tending a garden. The goal is to grow our desired plants to harvest but the task requires we be ever watchful for the weeds that will choke the life out of our young & growing plants.

Sometimes, as the plants first begin to grow the inexperienced gardener can't always tell what is weed & what is good plant.

It's not enough to just see & recognize the weed above ground. One must get their hands dirty, that is they must dig the weed out & get to the root.

Once the root is exposed the gardener sees that what was hidden from his sight looks nothing like the exposed part of the weed.

It's really the same for us.

We can see the obvious part of the weed within easily enough & many pull the weed thinking that is the end of it. Yet, because they did not get to the root, the hidden cause they find the weed just grows back.

Self purification is a process with many levels & the learning is in the doing, you find your way as you go.

Every gardener requires certain tools to be effective.

To do the inner gardening the only tools required in the beginning are willingness & fearless self honest. Other tools will be added along the way.

"in the process do we purify those around us?"

    Everyone is our mirror.

If you change your mind, you will change what you project & therefore what is reflected back to you.

    Really great Q!

How can I describe my whole life in just few words? From the very first day I was in the process. Each and every moment belongs to this process of purification. There nothing lies outside from this process. Even you, even that star which is far beyond from this earth, is involved in this process. Whole existence is in process. I wonder it may be this monkey mind who thinks that there must be any particular process, any particular step by step process, in order to be awakened? It is nothing but a way to escape from the present moment. However process contains all, but purification concern with individuals.

Yes this process concern with “knowing yourself”. And in order to know yourself, you must first investigate and know who you are not.

Discover all that you are not -- body, feelings thoughts, time, space, this or that -- nothing, concrete or abstract, which you perceive can be you. The very act of perceiving shows that you are not what you perceive.

The clearer you understand on the level of mind you can be described in negative terms only, the quicker will you come to the end of your search and realise that you are the limitless being.

It is neither an attitude nor an act. Because it is the process to be awaken from the dream. Attitude means “accept this and reject that”. It is state of judgment where you judge the dream and come to any conclusion, whether this dream is good or bad. Attitude will never awake you from this dream rather it will create more dreams. This purification process approaches the inner being which is primary and it is also the source for your every act.

Have you heard this story ; Buddha and taming elephant?

“One account is that as this elephant, who had been intoxicated into a crazed state by his keepers, ran through the town towards the Buddha, a frightened woman accidentally dropped her baby at the Buddha's feet. Just as the elephant was about to trample the child, The Buddha calmly reached up and touched the elephant on the forehead. The elephant became calm and quiet, then knelt down before the Buddha.”

It is the answer to your last question

when one come contact with a person who has already in contact with his inner bliss, then his inner being also shines. But it only happens to those who already have few glimpses of bliss in their own life.

Hope it will help; but if you still want to know about this process in detail then you can refer to this book; zen yoga by P.j Saher

( it is a nice book which clears your every doubt regarding awakening process)

    Sorry for my silly English

    Namaste :)

It's a process of changing the nature of yourself. Specifically speaking, through beautifying your soul garden and sublimating your nonmaterial life structure, your consciousness and action is getting changed, and this is the purification.

800 Values for New Era Human Being--soul garden

    442. The symbol of a pure and perfect soul: grateful, praising, reverent, faithful, honest, kind, diligent, unsophisticated, intelligent and vivid, clean and tidy, innocent modest and gentle, open-minded, tolerant, magnanimous, unselfish, positive and optimistic, enthusiastic and unrestraint, humorous, and affable.

    443. The dirt and dust that should be cleansed from the soul: jealousy, anger, bitterness, suspicion, curse, comparison, reprehension, attack, contention, complaint, passiveness, decadence, selfishness, avid possession, arrogance, unscrupulousness, indolence, sluttery, indifference, and unruliness. The heaven will accept only those with a pure and perfect soul. If your soul is contaminated with any of the above 20 defects, you will be denied the entrance to heaven—the realm of the Greatest Creator.

    444. The most severe crisis of mankind is the crisis of soul. As long as we have solved man’s crisis of soul, we can solve all the crises faced by mankind. The building of Soul garden is a matter of urgency for mankind. Any other measures and ways are only trivial and cannot solve the crises faced by mankind. Everyone should build their own garden of soul, which is a miraculous panacea for mankind to avoid tribulations and catastrophe.

    .

Purification is to weed out every judgemental thought, every jealous thought, every angry thought, every loveless thought.

To inquire into ourselves, moment by moment, for all thoughts that are not of love, of peace, of joy, of gratitude, of acceptance.

To be in a place of non-resistance. To allow to fall away all that is not of God. To be in a place of surrender to what is occurring in the present moment.

This to me is the process of purification.

If the inner life is pure, the outer life will automatically be pure. The inner will guide the outer.

As our thoughts and actions change, then sometimes so do the thoughts and actions of those around us, if the time is right.

It is all those aspects that you speak of ... It is simplification, knowing ourselves, and also freedom ... (freedom from the tyranny of the small me).

Not so much an attitude or an act .... It is more a removal of all the debris that covers our true nature.

Just a very small contribution ...... you already have some excellent answers ....

    with love

  • It is veiled in the language of Alchemy as the process of turning lead into gold, nestled in the twilight language of male/female union in Tantric Yoga, putting emphasizes on how things work instead of why. Purification uses the fire of Shakti to transform, all real magic uses sexual energy, the energy of creation, the energy of the Goddess, the life force energy. Everyone must choose for themselves to follow their bliss or not, this is the beauty of physical individuality and the terror of the programed mind.

There are two processes of purification:

    1) The physical sense

    2) The mental sense.

Let’s look at the mental sense first:

The ego (e.g. you, me, he, she, us and them) is a mental movement, it is thinking from a centre (radial, radical etc). To purify the mental movement, mental attention must be completely detached from the physical world around it e.g. totally egocentric. The whole pursuit of purity (e.g. seeking enlightenment, moksha, nirvana etc) is enticing the mental attention from the whole mind (senses/body) to the ego-centric thinker (the memory). That is the only purification process you can do, as you (I, he, she, us, them) are the egocentric thinkers.

Physical purification is the detachment of mental energy from the narrow limited egocentric thinker: the stealing away of mental attention towards fact.

The word "pure" itself means something that was enticed away, "cut off" (pruned), "separated", narrowed, limited.

The limited egocentric movement only wants to purify mental attention towards its own activities! Further: the egocentric thinker will tell lies to himself or herself that she/he wants to be physically pure, in order to maintain the mental purity. Factually, the ego cannot know physical purity, and so has no handle upon which to reject or accept it...Knowing is the movement towards mental purity. The ego cannot be "not knowing", it is not possible for the ego to come to an agnostic state. An agnostic state cannot be approached or recognized by the thinker.

"You (e.g. also me, I, us, she he, them) do not want to be physically pure, but instead we want to continue to refine the mental movement".

One cannot try to be physically pure: it is not some state to be chased, nor something to be rejected; it is not in our power to come to physical purity!!!...That is not a statement we can reject or accept (e.g. analyze): it is a fact. The mental movement cannot destroy or warp fact; the fact always remains untouched. To us: physical purity is only an idea, we cannot analyze the fact of it (e.g. it is not a mental idea). Physical relationship is not something we can bring about; it is something which effects the mind (through the senses) causing a reaction that is un-diluted by egocentric thought. When our mind relates purely to the physical world, the knowing has ended, so the know-er (the thinker) is not aware of what state the mind is in!

Here we have come, but no further: our proud waves will be stayed.

One of the greatest thinkers on this subject was Vivekananda, a Hindu monk who lectured in the final years of the nineteenth century in America and England.

    He once said,

"A yogi must not injure anyone by thought, word, or deed. Mercy must not be for men alone, but must go beyond and embrace the whole world."

In Hinduism there is the concept of ahimsa, or "non-injury."

They also teach non-covetousness, chastity of thought, and truthfulness.

You have to be brave to be a steadfast teller of the truth, willing to let the chips fall where they may.

In the Bhagavad Gita, it describes the pure soul as "he from whom comes no disturbance, who cannot be disturbed by others."

In the same verse it further describes him as "he who hates none, who is the friend of all, who is merciful to all, who is free from egotism, who is even-minded in pain or pleasure, who is forbearing."

personally; i see only 2 necessary steps in the process and in the special way in which these come to pass the process is no longer and is but a way of living finite moments contained in the infinite now.

    acceptance --> forgiveness.

    of self and others.

    contagious and magical it is.
