Will anything ever be as successful as Harry Potter?

It's so successful, both in book and film format...will anything ever be able to reach that level again?

The media is getting bigger and bigger by the decade. Fads are multiplying excessively. Look back in time, there are plenty of instances when something "big" hit the world and became a massive multi-million (or in the modern days, multi-billion) dollar franchise.

So yes, something will eventually be as successful and perhaps even more successful than Harry Potter. Give it about 10 years, Harry Potter will be a thing of the past, and we'll have a new media phenomenon to oogle over.

J.K. Rowling did what hardly any author (with a few exceptions...Tolkien, for example) has ever done, and created a whole world within her books. Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings are certainly the only two series I have ever read that have done such a thing. Maybe eventually, yes, some new book series will become as successful as Harry Potter, but it's a very rare happening. Notice that I am talking more about the books than the movies, because any movie series can become just as popular (Twilight [gag] or Pirates of the Caribbean or Spiderman for instance).

No, probably not in the same way. The HP books/films have reached that crazy cult status. Some people claim that Twilight is there (I do NOT lol). Honestly, I believe that the only reason why they are as successful as they are is because of infactuation.Harry Potter is like a personal extention of J.K.Rowling herself. When it comes down to writing, heart is usually a lot more meaningful than the novelty of selling a book. That's what she does best. She remembers the heart that many novels seldom remember.

Things are already more successful, it's just that Harry Potter happened to be released many, many, many times.

Though I guess it did beat the Bond franchise, and that franchise is comprised of like 20 something movies.

    Of course.

I'm sorry to tell you but it's just a matter of time. Every 5-6 years there's some movie that people go crazy about. Take a look at "Twilight".

    yes.

sorry about all of the details...

but in all seriousness, yes of course, hits like that come, stay for 20 yrs, and then people find something awesome else. There are only so many movies in the world who passed the test of time.
