Do letters to the prime minister cost money in canada?

I have heard that there is no postage fee for letters to the prime minister or member of Parliament in Canada. Is this true?

This is true. If you want to write a letter to a member of parliament (including the prime minister) or a senator, you do not have to put a stamp on the envelope.

However, it must be addressed to the house of commons, or the senate. If you send mail to their constituency office or to their private residences (not sure about 24 Sussex), you may find you have to pay postage.

    For example:

    Stephen Harper, PM

    House of Commons

    Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6

    Canada

Canada Post has been known to deliver the letter sans postage even when addressed to members of parliament through their constituency office or home, but they're not expected to do so.
