Exercising with a high demand baby?

Hi all! For a while now I've been trying to work out to some new work out DVD's that I bought. Our baby is 10 months old now so I don't have any excuses left for not losing the last 10lbs lol! Here's the problem: baby takes 2-3 naps in the day but he refuses to go to sleep unless I'm holding him or sleeping next to him in bed (we're working on this but it's harder than I thought it would be). my fiancee is at work all day and by the time he comes home, I'm just too tired to workout. I walk him in his stroller when the weather permits but now that it's getting hot, it happens less often. I also try to do things while I'm holding baby but he gets antsy quick and I'm definitely ready for some more hard core exercise lol! Any ideas on how to keep him satisfied during my workouts? He's a very demanding baby and only manages to keep himself occupied for about 20-25 minutes (an improvement from just a couple of months ago) and he's also teething so he's cranky about 24/7 lol! We have NO ONE to watch him and going to the gym is financially impossible right now. I was just wondering if any other mothers or fathers have any advice on how to incorporate an exercise routine in my day with a baby that gets mad at the drop of a hat! Thanks all!!!!!

Join stroller strides or your local cities community center based workout programs. Many have mommy and me classes.

Go swimming together. Go on walks together. Wear him in a sling/backpack.

It will pass soon enough, 10 months is extemely common for separation anxiety. It will get better, hang in there.

If you have a playpen you can bring it into the room you will be exercising in, throw some toys and lil man in there, and then work out, he has toys, he can see and hear you, should work out. That's what I've done with my son, when he gets to antsy for the playpen, I will hook my feet underneath and do sit-ups facing hm and talk to him as I do them, he thinks its funny, and it gives me a few more minutes of working out.

I also will put him in his high chair with some food to smash up, play with, throw around, whatever, while I do some exercises. I try and do different things everytime to keep him entertained, different colors, textures, tastes, sounds when being smashed or chewed on. My son doesn't like celery, but likes the sound when he chews on it, plus it helps him with his molars, he's teething as well.

My son used to only nap when laying on my chest too, I moved him to laying next to me, still touching after he was asleep, to now he is sleeping in his crib and I can go and do whatever I need.

Just try to find new things to entertain him with, even if its just a few beans in an old water bottle thats been glued shut. My son loves it, he sees the beans, it makes a noise, but he can't get to the beans, its funny.

Get a stroller and start walking/running. But him in a backpack type carrier.

To get him to sleep on his own, put him down, ease your arm from under his head but stay there for another 15-20 minutes. Then leave.
