What is your opinion on The Vegetarian Myth book? Love it or Hate it?
Here is what the book looks like if you need a refresher

I just came across it today and am quite disturbed at the attack on a vegetarian/vegan diet.
Thoughts? :S

I've never read it, but I've listen/read reviews on it and heard she's... crazy. She never ONCE even mentions the types of foods she ate on her "vegan diet" and it's assumed that she just ate garbage, which led to her "poor health".
Here is a video on it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5D_tIjhQIM&feature...

It forces intelligent debate, so I'm for it. Currently there is a thrashing of the China Study amongst the advocates of the Paleo Diet (meat, veggies, nuts) and about the benefits of meat. By looking at what's considered the logical reason to eat meat, you have an idea of what's being cited, so if you wanted to argue (for fun, be nice about it) why it's better to be veg, you have a resource for which to formulate your arguments.
You can't argue without knowing the issues, so even if you're vegetarian, I still think it's worth a read. If you're not vegetarian, it's a somewhat good guide on what type of meat to buy (grass-fed vs grain fed)...I think.

I've never read it, but if it is what I think it is, I was somewhat disturbed by what I perceived to be hypocrisy in her argument. I saw part of a YouTube video in which she discussed the content of her book. I didn't see the entire thing... there were several segments and most of them were at least 15 minutes long. I didn't have the time.
However, in the clip I watched, her main argument was that agriculture was the worst thing to ever happen for the environment. If that was her argument against vegetarianism, it didn't work too well, as animal agriculture is indeed a part of agriculture, and in our current practices, a huge amount of what we grow goes to feed animals. Based on that, it would make more sense for her to argue for eating lower on the food chain and/or encouraging people to not eat domestic animals. (I don't think she does that, as she was talking to a group of farmers.)

I like the fact that it's written by a former vegan, a 20 year vegan at that. She has been there, done that, has the T shirt to prove it, and now realizes it was all wrong and a waste of time.

I wouldn't take it seriously. If someone is going to attack vegetarianism/veganism they had better be a medical doctor or licensed dietitian for me to pay any attention to them. There are lots of books out there full of misinformation.
