What is your evidence for an "immortal soul" in the holy scriptures?

The only reference to an immortal soul that I see is in Genesis, where Satan tells Eve, paraphrasing, that God is lying to you-----(if you eat this forbidden fruit, you will not die). I submit the immortal soul concept arose there.

In Koine Greek, there is not any indefinite article ("a"); interior the absence of a different article ("the") an indefinite article is oftentimes rightly assumed, yet jointly as there is not any confident article in front of "God" in John a million:a million, we could continually no longer anticipate an indefinite article. The text cloth reads actually: "?? ???? ?? ? ?????, ??? ? ????? ?? ???? ??? ????, ??? ???? ?? ? ?????." In beginning up replaced into the be conscious and the be conscious replaced into with the God, and God replaced into the be conscious. John has completed a sturdy pastime of creating this sentence so as that he the two publicizes Christ to be God jointly as additionally putting forward that Christ and the father at the instant are not the comparable guy or woman. Had he reported that the be conscious replaced into THE God, with a different article, he might have observed as Jesus and the father thoroughly the comparable, which all of us comprehend isn't the case. yet while they at the instant are not the comparable, why no longer call "the be conscious" (Jesus) yet another god? seem on the 2d clause specifically (??? ???? ?? ? ?????. - and God replaced into the be conscious.) word that John has placed God, no longer the be conscious, on the beginning up of the clause. it is how a speaker of Koine extra emphasis to a be conscious, as though to underline it. So John is emphasizing Jesus' Godhood jointly as nevertheless isolating his personhood from the father, no longer coming up a polytheistic plurality of Gods. Had he switched the order and placed "a god" on the tip of the clause, then the indefinite article assumption could have been somewhat greater smart. The context of the completed of scripture could be an sufficient instruction manual to respond to the question in spite of the shown fact that, as there is just one God, and there could be no valid "a god." The NWT additionally makes many glaring interpretive errors and should no longer be depended on in many situations. as an occasion, it erroneously inserts Jehovah each and every time the Greek for sure says "lord." This demonstrates the glaring biases of the translators in choose of a undeniable theological view.

No. God told Adam the punishment for breaking the 1 law of eating from one tree was death. Not eating would mean continued life as they would not die. Adam & Eve had eternal life unless they ate that fruit. Humans have no immortal soul.

Look to the Bible in Ezekiel 18:4. "As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die." The soul does die. All souls do as all souls have sinned. Romans 5:12 shows we all have inherited sin from Adam. "That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned—"

The Bible mentions "soul" and "spirit" 1,700 times. Not once is either referred to as immortal. People are mortal (Job 4:17), and none receive immortality until Jesus' second advent (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).

"Immortal soul" is not scriptural. God alone is Immortal.

1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Many - but see just this one.........

“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. 20 At his gate was laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores 21 and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 “The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.’

25 “But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.’

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

    Luke 16:19-31

listen what happened to these men.......
