I want to participate in Ramadan?

Ramadan begins on the 1st of August and ends on the 30th of August this year. To experience Ramadan to it's full extent (or at least as much as possible) you will have to fast from sunrise to sunset the entire length; Pray 5 times a day at very specific times; and generally give up any vice you have such as tobacco, sex, anything you have a habit too. it is a full fledged fast, not just from food.

Ramadan is the holiest of months in the Islamic calendar, and fasting in this month is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The month is spent by Muslims fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset. The name came from the time before the Islamic calendar, when the month of Ramadan fell in the summer. Fasting during this month is often thought figuratively to burn away all sins. Muslims believe that the Qur'an was sent down to the lowest heaven during this month, thus being prepared for gradual revelation by the angel Jibral (Gabriel) to the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Furthermore, Muhammad told his followers that the gates of Heaven would be open all the month and the gates of Hell (Jahannam) would be closed[citation needed]. The first day of the next month, Shawwal, is spent in celebrations and is observed as the "Festival of Breaking Fast" or `Eid ul-Fitr.

The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, and months begin when the first crescent of a new moon is sighted. Since the Islamic lunar calendar year is 11 to 12 days shorter than the solar year and contains no intercalation, Ramadan migrates throughout the seasons.

This year's Ramadan will be starting in the second week of August (I think, not sure, but definitely in August). You must wake up before sunrise and eat a good hearty breakfast. After Sunrise you cannot eat or drink anything until the sun sets. During the time of fasting it is a good thing to abstain from bad things. IE watching porn and stuff like that

the next Ramadan will begin on 1st August.Fasting starts at dawn and end with sunset. "O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become God-fearing." (The Quran, 2:183)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from Allah will have his past sins forgiven. the is a month when we try to do the following

See not what displeases Allah

Speak no evil

Hear no evil

Do no evil

Look to Allah with fear and hope
