Do I need specific strings for an electric acoustic guitar? what kind of strings should i get?

This is my first time changing strings and I'm not too sure what i need, although i do know how to do it.

I'm a casual player. The songs i play normal have alot of chords and strumming so what kind of strings should i get?

It's still just an acoustic guitar, only with some type of pickup to connect to an amp. Get any brand of strings for an acoustic guitar.

You'll want to buy acoustic guitar strings.

What kind to buy depends on a couple of things:

    1. "Gauge" aka - how thick are the strings. If you don't play often, you'll probably want light or extra light strings. These will be kinder to your fingers. If you play often and have great callouses built up, try mediums. I prefer light even with good callouses.

    2. Phosphor bronze vs. bronze: if your guitar has a brighter tone, go for phosphor bronze. If it sounds darker, go for bronze. That will help balance out the tone a bit. (This is something most people would not even notice, so don't sweat this part)

    3. Coated vs. uncoated. Elixir brand strings have a white coating on them that supposedly makes them last longer. I would only use these if you strum really hard or have broken a string playing before. My husband prefers the coated strings because he's not as nice to his guitar as I am.

The more you spend, the better you'll sound. Though coated strings (the Elixirs) are more expensive, but I just don't care for them.

I'd recommend D'addario or Martin SP.

When you change your strings, don't take them all off at once. Only take one off at a time to maintain tension on the guitar. When you've changed the string, then take off the next one.

    Good luck!

circulate on your community track shop and go searching - and ask some questions. See what's there. i exploit Simon & Patrick, Yamaha, and Gibson for accoustic/electric powered and that they are all good and each and each has a different benefit - otherwise i could in basic terms have one guitar. Get accessible, look on your budget, play the failings, and then worry approximately in spite of if or no longer the producer is okay. once you (virtually) make up your recommendations then you may circulate returned to the computing gadget and lookup comments on that producer and guitar. the significant difficulty right this is which you should be mushy enjoying the tool. they're all distinctive. good success such as your seek and don't be afraid to ask for help.
