We bought an AWD Dodge Caliber this year, and love it. I'm 5'2 my husband 6'3, and we are both comfortable driving it. Mine has a combination standard-(non-clutch/auto transmission, which works very nice for getting you a little more pep when you need to pull out into traffic or pass someone. It also has a regular two-prong plug outlet. I ran it all winter and it worked out very well in the New Hampshire snow-ice conditions. It's also very stylish. Give it a test drive and see what you think.

The Subaru Outback or Forrester might be the best idea, But I personally suggest a V6 RAV4.

Audi A4 Quattro, if it's an option — German competence in icy situations is virtually unmatched. Audi is the leader in AWD technology, by far (think Porsche, the most famous AWD, and Lamborghini, both of which are now Volkswagen, which is Audi's parent company).
Subaru would be the DEFINITE next best option if you don't want to spend as much as Audi charges. Subaru's AWD is very competent and highly regarded; and they're reliable like tanks.

I used to live in the mountains, and Subaru was generally considered the best AWD.
Of course, you should consider what is around you. When you need to get the car serviced you don't want to have to drive a long distance

i imagine you should pass for it! even if that is gas as hostile to playing the off highway, you could't placed a value on entertainment (a minimum of no longer this value). Plus, Honda is an impressive element, and the CR-V isn't that enormous vehicle so that you type of get to savour both aspect of it (no longer being a significant gas taker). besides, pass and characteristic relaxing with it!
