Depends on your body size (how tall and how many lbs), depends on what your Resting Metabolic Rate is, depends on how active are you throughout the day, depends on what kind of food your calories come from.
EDIT:
So if your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is 1652 cal per day (That is how many calories your body will burn if you have no physical activity). By the way I assumed that you are a female. Male would burn 1892 cal per day.
So if you want to lose 1 lbs per week (my physician advised me that is the healthiest way to go) you need to have a deficit of 500 cal per day.
3500 cal = 1 lbs
7 days x 500 cal = 1 lbs
So you would eat 1200 per day and burn at least 1700 cal/day
1 mile is good but you can try to walk another 1-3 miles. Also you can try callanetics, yoga or Pilate's classes at a local gym or school. There are a lot of videos on YouTube. All those 3 exercises tighten and reshape your body while increasing strength, flexibility and body alignment.
About your food you need to make sure that 20% comes from PROTEIN, 65% from CARBS and about 15% from FAT in order for your body to function properly. You are 174 lbs with a normal physical activity so you are looking at 0.6 grams of protein per pound for your weight (for example if you were lifting weights daily you will be looking at 1 gram of protein per pound). So that is about 100 grams of protein per day. Foods high in protein will speed up your metabolism and increase fat burn. Foods high in fiber will be keep you full for longer, keep you blood sugar levels normal so you don't get hungry or light headed. Drink lots of water, stay away from fast food and deep fried foods and you should be healthy and look great in less than 6 months :o)
Good luck. I have been at it for 18 months and I have never felt better in my life.

Yes you'll, however if you happen to desire to be a dimension 6 permanenly then consume greater than 500 energy an afternoon. Eat 1200 energy an afternoon and undertaking. If you consume brown rice and grains it's extra filling and really healthful. You desire to lose extra than simply fluids and that's all you're doing with 500 energy an afternoon.
