Ingestible chemical to reduce drunkiness? Alcoholase?
I have a question regarding whether alcoholase, the enzyme, can reduce intoxication. As a business man in China, my friend is compelled to socially drink large quantities of wine/ethyl alcohol in order to satisfy clients. This is terrible for his health as you can imagine. Would it help him to ingest alcoholase while drinking spirits to reduce intoxication? I imagine it is safe. They sell it in kg quanities. Thank you.

Alcoholase makes alcohol, it does not break it down.

"Alcoholase II 300 (Glucoamylase) – Alcoholase II is a fungal glucoamylase or amyloglucosidase enzyme for use in the production of fuel ethanol and beverage alcohol. Available in 18 kg pails. ($325.00) "

The enzyme that neutralizes alcohol is alcohol dehydrogenase, but it converts it to an aldehyde, so if it builds up too fast, that will cause a whole set of other problems.
I suspect your friend is pulling your leg. While alcohol consumption may be a necessary social requirement, consumption of huge quantities isn't going to be. Business is not going to be conducted when all parties are plastered.
