what the hell is ken wilber spouting about all the time?
Am I retarded or why am I not understanding one word that comes out of that man's mouth when I watch him on youtube? What is the point of all his philosophical mumbo jumbo about spirituality, ethno-centric vs world-centric etc. No like what is his purpose? And can someone explain to me one or two of his most important ideas here in a way a homo sapien can understand?
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality9 years agoSiblings as romantic partners in a movie?
Has this happened? Does anyone know movies or plays with this in history? Cousins? Sister/brother etc? I just had this thought when I saw Joan Cusack being mentioned in the same movie as John Cusack.
I guess one down side is that the awkwardness of the actors and audiences constantly being aware of the taboo.
2 AnswersMovies9 years agoname of song? old rock song?
It SOUNDS like "im hot and flirtey come here with me hot and flirty easy to see.. hot and flirtey, hot and flirty!" He's singing it pretty loud and ethusiastically. COuld it be hot and dirteh? It's from like the 70s or 80's in my best guess. The lyrics are completely from memory, and it could have some or none of those words.. Hot and flirteh stands out in my memory though i can't find anything online.
3 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoIs it true that if I join a cannabis collective, I can grow up to 99 plants for them?
I am in California and the city code enforcement officer said this is not true because you have to be a direct primary caregiver. And I'm reading stuff about how you need to apply for an agricultural sales license.
However, I just read that if you join a collective, the collective takes care of all of it for you and you can grow up to 99. Either way, I've got the med card and will get the MCCIP card soon. And I'm considering meeting a collective lawyer soon. But any advice here may help me get started.
If we were to grow it, it would be for cancer patients with a anti-psychoactive strain high in CBD.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years agoDo I have silicosis or a itchy throat? I'm kinda scared.?
I was crushing rock into powder a few days ago for soil admendment 6 times on occassion. I wore a mask like 4 of the times, but it was just a hospital mask, not a dust mask. I heard acute silicosis can happen immediately if you are near fresh grinded rock with large quantities of dust. I tried not to breathe in very much and it wasn't bellowing everywhere, but it was probably in the air (I was outside).
When I bend my head down, there is a irritation that makes me want to cough. Also when I wheeze, there is irritation right behind my vocal cords. This makes me think that there is an inflammation in my trachea, not in my lungs.
I can take a deep breath without irritation. It has been going on for about 1 week now right about the same time as the rock crushing.. I've also been inhaling a lot of mold from my composting bin and a bit of aersol from acrylic spray lol! What do you guys think?

5 AnswersBiology9 years agoWorm Composting: Can you use cardboard boxes as containers to save money IF..?
1. You don't care about them eating through it because you can replace boxes every 2 weeks and stack em in the mean time?
2. You put ash at the very bottom to prevent them from eating the bottom and only water around the middle to prevent side-eating?
Will this work and do you have any ideas on really cheap containers?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape9 years agoWhy do people say the Federal Reserve is controlled by bankers?
I have recently read on a debunking conspiracies site that the Federal Reserve needs 6 out of 9 members who are not bankers and elected by a government body. Thus, bankers do not have majority power right? Can anyone attempt to counter this? I just want to know more. Thanks.
It is surprising to me that these bankers are holders of the Federal Reserve's stock: Rothschild Bank of London Warburg Bank of Hamburg Rothschild Bank of Berlin Lehman Brothers of New York Lazard Brothers of Paris Kuhn Loeb Bank of New York Israel Moses Seif Banks of Italy Goldman, Sachs of New York Warburg Bank of Amsterdam Chase Manhattan Bank of New York (Reference 14, P. 13, Reference 12, P. 152) - btw, what reference source is this from?
3 AnswersPolitics10 years agoCan anyone offer a counter argument to this rebuttal of Troy Davis's innocence. It was from Anne Coulture Thx?
I find Ann Coulter more detailed, even in a brief column, and between someone who wants to keep things vague and someone who wants to get specific -- well, I usually credit the person who's unafraid of the little details as probably being on to something.
Sessions also says something I don't believe, having read Coulter. Here's Sessions' claim on the recantations:
Some of these same witnesses also had testified at Davis’ trial but have since recanted their trial testimony. The judge at the evidentiary hearing found their recantations to be unreliable and, therefore, found Davis was unable to “clearly establish” his innocence. The problem is that the testimony of these same witnesses, whom the judge had determined were less believable, had been essential to the original conviction and death sentence.
Is that true? Were there only a couple of eyewitnesses, the lynchpin of the prosecutors' case, and, given they've now recanted, leave us with no credible accusers on the record against Davis?
According to Coulter, this does not appear true at all.
Two tall, young black men were harassing a vagrant in the Burger King parking lot, one in a yellow shirt and the other in a white Batman shirt. The one in the white shirt used a brown revolver to pistol-whip the vagrant. When a cop yelled at them to stop, the man in the white shirt ran, then wheeled around and shot the cop, walked over to his body and shot him again, smiling.
Some eyewitnesses described the shooter as wearing a white shirt, some said it was a white shirt with writing, and some identified it specifically as a white Batman shirt. Not one witness said the man in the yellow shirt pistol-whipped the vagrant or shot the cop.
Several of Davis' friends testified -- without recantation -- that he was the one in a white shirt. Several eyewitnesses, both acquaintances and strangers, specifically identified Davis as the one who shot Officer MacPhail.
Now the media claim that seven of the nine witnesses against Davis at trial have recanted.
First of all, the state presented 34 witnesses against Davis -- not nine -- which should give you some idea of how punctilious the media are about their facts in death penalty cases.
Among the witnesses who did not recant a word of their testimony against Davis were three members of the Air Force, who saw the shooting from their van in the Burger King drive-in lane. The airman who saw events clearly enough to positively identify Davis as the shooter explained on cross-examination, "You don't forget someone that stands over and shoots someone."

I'm guessing stability is really important, but given modern materials, couldn't they have come up with something better than wide trusses? I keep feeling like its going to block a lot of incoming light. Why couldn't they use a single pole or something skinnier?
Astronomy & Space10 years agoWill police officers come if you call 911 and tell them that alien monsters are attacking?
Like literally, what if you report that they are as big as grizzly bears and have lacerating tentacles that can slice through walls? Also, let's say they are only in your house only so no one else is reporting. Will the police: 1. Send a squad car to check it out(too little too late) 2. Bring full SWAT teams 3. Hang up and write you up.
The premise is that I always watch scifi films and I get the feeling that if you literally called to report something unbelievable, they won't come. If hypothetically, one were really attacked by paranormal creatures, would it be better to report that there are highly armed robbers in your house fitted with body armor?
15 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police10 years agoIngestible chemical to reduce drunkiness? Alcoholase?
I have a question regarding whether alcoholase, the enzyme, can reduce intoxication. As a business man in China, my friend is compelled to socially drink large quantities of wine/ethyl alcohol in order to satisfy clients. This is terrible for his health as you can imagine. Would it help him to ingest alcoholase while drinking spirits to reduce intoxication? I imagine it is safe. They sell it in kg quanities. Thank you.

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHemp Oil/Marijuana Chemotherapy interaction?
Hello. Does anyone know a doctor who can let my mom know that Hemp Oil is not going to interact with Chemo treatments in a negative way? She is currently on Camptosar, Cisplatin, Herceptin, vitamin 12, Hydrocodone, Protonix, and Bethanechol. We are thinking about Rick Simpson's alternative treatement in conjuction with regular chemo to completely rid of the cancer. We plan to use high CBD strains of cannabis to counter the psychoactive effects of high dosages.
She has slightly lower blood pressure, acid reflux, nausea, and some numbing of the hands. Other than that, she is fine.
Any open minded doctors here or know of one?
1 AnswerCancer1 decade agoIdea for BP oil spill.. would this work?
This is just for curiosity sake. Assuming the tube is made from metal... Put underwater pyrotechnic material on tube to heat it up so it becomes malleable. Drop a 50-100 ton spherical metal ball on it to crimp it shut - with some force from let's say a 20 foot drop. I imagine the pipe would flatten and slightly fold, thus stopping or drastically slowing flow. I'm thinking it would be cheap, simple, fast temporary solution. What are the reasons this would or would not work? Thank you!
2 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoIED solutions - how effective would these ideas be?
Dummy Humvees - remote controlled fake humvees with dummy people inside. Construction can be balsa wood even if realism is not factor. Send them to the front of the convoy and reduce probability of real casualties.
Helicopter transport - MRAPs already cost a million. Why not get more helicopter transports out there that go high altitude? Can't there be transport helicopters made just for transporting troops that are very crude and cheap? No features... Just engine, basic controls, and light armor... I'm imagining mythbuster's garage style construction... very basic
Helipacks - personal "jetpacks" where soldiers wearing more level 4 armor can just travel in packs like in minority report. It actually has been around for some time... http://english.pravda.ru/main/2002/06/11/30172.htm...
If the device is shot, the soldier can use a cheap retrorocket with a emergency stabilizer... like a drag chute to land safely.. and/or just fly relatively low.
Mix in - just wear civilian clothes and ride in civilian vehicles.. I'm not sure what this will bring.. didn't really think it through.. maybe bad idea.
