Graphic card confusion?
i read that a r4870 offers better performance than the ati 5550 but how is it possible if it is a lower series my friend has the 4870 and can play crysis 2 on medium but i have the 5550 and strugle to play crysis2 on medium(all components meet system requirements)the gpu memory is the same(1gb) how is this possible

um tht is weird. but maybe not. the r870 may deliver better speed. but the 5550 may deliver better rendering and aniscoptic filtering. memory may be the same but memory has speed. if the memory is faster, than it will perform faster. if i had 4 gigs of 2044mhz ram and you had 8 gigs of 1033 ram. my ram would still be faster than your 8 gigs.

I have the 5550 and i play crysis on medium at medium resolution. a 4870 has about 4x the amount of shaders. It is the top card of the series. The top card of 2 series back is stronger then a 5550.
They only bump up 20% or so with each new generation, so lower end cards are still just that.
