there are many fish that are compatible as betta tankmates. The four rules that you can use to determine whether a fish is compatible are
1) Not colorful or resemble a rival betta's colors (guppies)
2) Not a fin nipper (Tiger barbs are a big NO)
3) The right size for the size of the tank (No common plecos in a 10 gallon tank since they get to 2 feet in length)
4) Lives roughly in the same water conditions as a betta (no brackish/saltwater fish)

I am sorry, but with only a bowl, you have no options. Bowls do not offer enough swimming space, and offer unstable and unhealthy water conditions. ALL fish in the aquarium trade should be kept with filtration and when tropical like a betta, with heating as well.
A single betta should have about a 5 gallon tank with a full hood, gentle filter, and an aquarium heater to maintain the temperature between 78F-82F.
fyi- goldfish can live over 25 years when proper care is given. Clearly bowls are highly inappropriate when they shave so much life off an animal's potential.

Fish and Betta's do not really get along. Mine live with bottom feeders and they are perfect. I have tried Male Betta's with Guppies and Danio's and they did not get along (obviously) Betta's do not like active schooling fish or Guppies Because they have similar tails. Even non fancies.
I am keeping Male Betta's now with ghost shrimp. And the females are with Cory cats.
And Betta's always need a filter and a heater. So you just ruled out the Betta that you have now. I would get a 5 gallon sponge filtered and heated. That is a minimum for a single Betta. You can also get 3 ghost shrimp with them.

In a stagnant unfiltered bowl - NOTHING. Even a betta is struggling to survive in those conditions, ANY other fish is dead.
10gal tank with a heater and filter. Then you some options with smaller community fish. Platies, neon tetras, kuhli loaches, cory catfish, even White Cloud Minnows. But all those fish need MUCH better water conditions than a betta can put up with.

Any non agressive fish that aren't brightly coloured or with long fins should do well with bettas, though I would recommend a snail. However all fish need filters and heaters to keep them healthy. Also no fish should be kept in a bowl, you should have at least a 10 gallon tank for a betta, especially if you're keeping another fish with it.

Nothing no fish should be kept in an unfiltered tank including the betta and only coldwater fish such as goldfish should be kept in an unheated tank. Goldfish don't die fast if they are given proper care they live 30+ years.
