Sony vegas pro 10 stops playing video?

I'm editing video on Sony Vegas pro 10 and have been editing it since last night. [of course, I stopped and started again] but now, all of a sudden while I'm editing the video goes to black and no video plays. When I close the program and open it again, the video is fine for a few seconds to a minute and then it goes to black again [I can hear sound and see media generated within the program such as solid screens etc] I tried rendering, and it rendered a portion of it fine, but then the video went to black while rendering too. What can I do? I need this video for tomorrow morning.

Update:

I downloaded Klite codec pack, I uninstalled and re-installed, I restarted my computer, I've tried rendering in a different format and it's still not working. I filmed the video with Nikon Coolpix s8100. I've edited and rendered video shot with that camera before. I even took the files, deleted them and got them again from my camera, but it's still not working. I really need help, this is a project for my final exam which is tomorrow and I NEED it. :(

hard to tell, need more info about the video you are trying to render. Like which codecs? Filetype could tell more but not all as you can change it manually.

How did you record this video, was it with a real video camera or did you use fraps software or other capture software on the pc ?

Try google for a codec pack that combines most used codecs. Im thinking about community codec pack or K-lite codec pack and there are more out there.

What I am guessing is that your computer (and sony vegas) does not read this video entirely well, codec missing or maybe it went faulty and needs a reinstall.

    Good luck for tomorrow
