Borax kills ants .... take a look at this ..and stop itching :)

**note. I'd sooner give borax a try, than let my whole garden go to waste because I daren't work it....

BORAX is ingested in some countries, used in certain eye-wash solutions and as a fertiliser ..... dissolving borax crystals to kill ants and roaches is quite common, although if the ants are carpeting your whole garden, then maybe a bush fire would be better... lol

There are outside baits for ants. The baits will kill the ants. Borax and boric acid powder is not good for the soil or the plants. Buying some Terro for ants that like sugar and getting some Combat for ants that go for greasy foods will kill the ants. This can take 2-3 days with the amount of ants you have.

I have the same problem, although I've settled on keeping the paths up the garden clear and dusting down the threshold at the back door. It's freaky to even notice you've inadvertently brought ONE in the house on your clothes. I use the powder to dust around the stepping stones up the garden and a spray to treat the doorways, other than that I'm not sure.. I can't even place a blanket on the lawn any more...and boy do they bite !
