They don't. Higher taxes balance budgets. Which do you want, balanced budgets or marginal job growth?

I'm sorry, but Republicans are being hypocrites. Whenever Democrats propose spending to help create jobs, Republicans whine about the deficit. Whenever Democrats propose tax increase to lower deficits, Republicans whine about jobs. As my step-dad would always say, "You can't have your cake and eat it, too."

I'm not sure they do. They simply think it is a matter of fairness. I recently read that 51% of tax filers pay 0 federal income tax, while the top 10% of earners pay 70% of the income taxes. Democrats call that injustice and describe it as the rich getting tax breaks on the backs of the poor and middle class. During the 2008 campaign, in a debate, Obama was asked by Charles Gibson about the sense in raising the capital gains tax rate, since history has shown that raising the rate actually yields lower revenue for the government. He responded that it was just a matter of fairness. Its about expanding government control, and redistribution of wealth. Most modern Democrats are socialists and Marxists. At least the ones in power are.

GE reported profits of 5.1 billion and received a 3.2 billion tax rebate. Not a cut but a tax REBATE. Exxon reported record profits and got a rebate also. 2/3 of American corporations don't pay any taxes. Yet unemployment is 10% according to the tax crap we should have jobs all over the place.

Last year all those tax cuts costs 1.9 trillion dollars. That 1.9 trillion was added to the deficit and spending you constantly complain about.

Thanks to all those tax cuts the dollar is in the toilet. A dollar U.S. used to get a $1.50 Canadian. Now it won't get a whole dollar CAD. So now all imports costs more. Food, clothing and OIL!!!!

    Furthermore:

Workers’ share of national income plummets to record low

"The chart jibes with other data, which show that since the 1980s, income for the richest 1 percent of Americans has exploded, while hardly budging at all for everyone else."

Stagnant wages and 10% unemployment while the price of everything else rises is hardly a formula for economic growth and job creation. How is a guy with no job supposed to buy anything? No wonder unemployment is stuck at 10% Especially if business isn't hiring and government isn't hiring. The tax cuts did nothing. Meanwhile everyone clamors for more tax cuts driving the dollar lower while wondering where the jobs are.. So much for "Trickle down" economics.

If the cuts did work as advertised Republican Mitt Romney the multimillionaire and proud recipient of those tax cuts wouldn't have been talking to a group of unemployed individuals. We can see how those tax cuts worked wonders for the UNEMPLOYED group he addressed. As he tried to convince them that he too is unemployed and feels their pain.

Oh and the poster boy Reagan raised taxes multiple times. He wasn't that senile.

The corporations are sitting on trillions without creating jobs. So the tax cuts didn't work. The whole notion of trickle-down has never worked. So why not tax the corporations? Giving them money doesn't create jobs, either. It might give them an incentive to create jobs of avoid those taxes.

The Democrats think that if they collect more taxes from people, then people will spend more money and this will create more jobs. I guess Democrats use a different type of math than the rest of us.

why do cons keep asking this question with no apparent evidence of liberals doing this?

higher taxes is a different issue from job creation...

They don't care about jobs, they only care about redistributive economic policy...you know, since it worked so well for the USSR and the other Eastern Bloc countries.

Maybe they just want to pay a few bills off first.
