Any animal charity fund raising ideas...? please!?

I'm trying to raise money for a local (registered) animal rescue charity. I've sold stuff, begged friends and family to the point of losing them :) , bombarded companies with emails asking for donations, all sorts. This is alongside working full time. I've had a few donations here and there but nowhere near enough for the time invested. I know I'm lucky to get anything for the charity but I need more ideas. They do a lot of hard work and there isn't a single paid worker at the sanctuary. Can anyone think of anything unusual? They themselves go out and do the 'tin-shakin' and have odd fund-raising days but they don't raise enough for the work they need to do. Thanks in advance xx

Collars, Leads, Pet bowls, Pet toys. What about more items that people can buy for themselves? Key Rings? Bed throws? (Get pet images printed on them) Picture frames? Jumpers/ tee shirts with pet pictures on? Socks? Stationary? Fridge Magnets? Dog Tags? Cups? Gift cards? I also think the brick-a-brack idea is great, like hold a little car boot sale. Fund raising idea's? Sponsored dog walking? Child face painting? You could paint their favourite animal. Animal fancy dress party? Each guest must pay a small fee which goes to your charity? Maybe your local youth club or hall would let you use their space for a night? Good luck to you!

My jewelry company was created specifically to try to help animals in need.. I am constantly amazed at how hard rescues make it to give them money..

Charitable contributions these days "need" to be a two way street.. The economy has really strapped a lot of us to the point where we have had to stop "just giving to give" and have had to start carefully selecting groups willing to work "with" us to promote both of us.. I would love to give everyone all the money they need, but when I ask them to help promote us in return I am treated like an evil capitalist.. What charities need to learn and understand, if I'm not making money, I have no money to give.. So help me make money so I can give you more.. We've tried giving out special coupon codes, adding them to our newsletters, creating special banners for their web sites, and creating a special page for them on our Facebook page.. Very few have done anything to help us in return.. The ones that do get the donations first..

What I am trying to say is, instead of approaching a business to ask for money, explain to them how you can both benefit by working together.. Do you have "fans" or a "community" that may appreciate the products of the business you are approaching? Then offer to promote them in your newsletter and web site in exchange for a donation.. Maybe add them to a banner at your next event.. Maybe you can even look at some of the affiliate programs out there, we are starting one this week, where you can earn a percentage of every sale made from people that you send to the merchant..

You can see our program at http://animalcharms.net/affiliate-program.php for an idea of how you can add passive fundraising to your charity.

sounds completey crazy but what about if you and a whole load of other people, possibly friends and other aninmal lovers, dress up as cats and dogs. have the full outfit with paws and everything and facepaint too! and get locked in a kennel with friendly cats and dogs for a night or maybe 24 hours? and see how long you can each last put bets on who wll be the first to go and last to go etc. you could get camera and follow it like the big brother!

    Dog (pet) walk

Pet parade with or without costumes

Contests: people who look like their pets; cutest pet; ugliest pet; local event sort of like Superdogs.
