Help identifying a flower?

- Around hand sized.

- About six or eight long tapered petals of a dark purple, with gaps in between.

- A yellowish green center.

I saw them growing up a pole on a carport. I asked the owners they said something like 'camallias.' And I've Googled them, but the pictures that came up were large pink and white, fluffy looking flowers.

Definitely not camellias. Sounds more like clematis to me, probably clematis jackmanni. Otherwise could be passionflower or morning glory

I would desire to disagree with the guy who suggested that that's a hydrangea - hydrangeas have plenty extra desirable leaves, and are many times the two pink or blue, reckoning on the soil wherein they are planted; i've got risk-free a link to a stable image of hydrangeas decrease than. That being suggested, i do no longer understand what that's - besides the undeniable fact that it seems wholesome, so i'd say basically save doing however you're already doing!

Camellias don't climb. It's probably clematis.

    I agree. Clematis.

Camellias are more like a tree, not a vine.
