Here's what I personally think what they've done, as i'm 17 I'm not exactly that good, but you can correct if you think different. I want to hear all of your thoughts.
There not doing anything major it's the websites own fault for not protecting there data take Sony for example the only reason why personal data was stolen was because there personal data they had was not actually secure/encrypted therefore thereselfs are to blame by using a simple MSQL Injection into the websites user/password form fields is not really hacking it's pretty simple to do if you know how to work a computer, also using a simple Ddos attack against a website to take it down is hardly hard, as there's software available on the internet to do this also known as 'LOIC' Low Orbit Ion Cannon, which the creators of it say it's a 'Network Testing Tool'.They can be traced if you look into real detail of the actual logs of the activity from the user as there's a ID on the systems wireless card that is actually engraved into the Network Card that can be obtained from the logs of a user entering a website. Now i'm not expert since i'm only 17, although what there doing is not exactly hard, and doesn't really require a high level of computer knowledge.I also believe there using IP (Internet Protocall) porting, and Proxy/VPN (Virtual Private Network) to make thereselfs hide from there actual location, which again is not exactly hard, as there's software that will allow you to do this take 'Hotspot Sheild' for example it's not really expert computer knowledge. They will get traced eventually they will make a mistake sooner or later either forget to renew there IP or turn there proxy on or anything. Also from the Media it seems that there using another location to host there website, which no doubt will be a VPS (Virtual Private Server). Although I say all this there's still ways of catching them as there's a BIA ID code engraved into the network card if i'm correct? I'm not talking about the MAC ID, because that can be spoofed, although the code before can not actually be spoofed. Personally because they say they've been caught, I think they've set someone up, and this will be a teenager that's set up a proxy that there using.

Yes, but if they had stronger servers like take my college there servers have really high spec processors in that take a LOT of packet data from Ddos attacks to actually turn the servers off it's there own fault, because if they had better servers that could handle that amount of packets then they'd never encounter these problems. Yeah fair enough you can't stop a Ddos attack if like a million people are doing it at the same time, that's way to many packets for the server to cope with, but a small hacking group like themselfs couldn't take down a good server.

When you perform a DDoS attack you never do it from your own computer. You do it from Slave computers. You give the command and a slave computer will get into trouble, hence your completely off the hook. Majority of the time the people who have slave systems aren't even aware.
But your saying its their fault right? So say you left the door open to your house and some random guy walks into your house and steals your laptop. Its your fault right? You didn't "Lock" your door.
Don't argue he isn't suppose to. You have no argument, they are not suppose to get access to a computer and files on a computer they aren't supposed to.
Hence you just justified crime, so when someone robs you, I am sure you will sit happily and say. "Oh my Bad" Think about it, they didn't just ruin the company but compromised peoples lives. Sure the companies need tobe held responsible. But a DDoS attack is not something you can easily stop. Because these are servers which are ment to be connected. Not your home personal computer which you don't want others to connect to.

Low Orbital Ion Cannon in the simplist sense works for a computer. You hook up a LOIC with a Bot.Net of infection computers in the thousands you got one serious weapon. Talking about a tank firing at a server. Your college could easily fall for the same attack in a heart beat, reguardless of how high the server power is. One of the best server structures was Amazon. They took a DDoS attack and brushed it off. They are known to have some of the best server capacity in the world. Yet they still took a big hit. Either way when you build a house you don't expect anyone to take a bazooka to it. You are just justifying this is my territory, any unwanted people stay out.
I don't support the companies for their disregard for their clients security, and I hate the fact DRM killing games. But the damage done is not to the companies but to the innocent people who bought the games.

I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but i honestly think lulzsec is a government run group trying to promote internet censorship. I mean, if hacking such high ranked sites was easy enough a couple of immature college students could do it, we would probably see more stuff like this. And country club, they're doing a lot more than DDoS attacks, they hacked the premier internet security site on the web and changed their homepage.
