is there a relationship to the poor schools in the south and the number of republican voters?

the south's schools consistently preform poorly. Is this why they produce republicans? Also is this why they are trying to cut school funding?

Absolutely, keep 'em dumb so they are confused as to which side the boss is on.

I'm sure that this will be taken the wrong way but I'm gonna say it anyway. Fact #1 Southern public schools perform poorly because of the large percentage of blacks and hispanics. Fact #2 The majority of blacks and hispanics vote democrat. Fact #3 The teachers union is the strongest union in the US. making it nearly impossible for them to get fired for a job poorly done. Guess who the majority of union members vote for office?

Others in this thread are exactly right -- many Republicans *are* wealthy business owners. And education is NOT in their best interests. It's unfortunate that so many uneducated, working class citizens are being convinced by the Republican party that they are vouching for their best interests, but they really aren't. They are only interested in their own prosperity.

It's not to say Democrats are much better. I think their values are in the right place but they are trying to please everyone but instead pleasing no one because they make too many compromises. They're disorganized and wasteful.

I think most citizens educated in science and humanities end up being Democrats because their primary concern is equality, and the humanitarian focus of their life makes them care about this greatly. People educated in business often end up being Republican because their primary concern is liberty -- specifically, freedom to make more for themselves and less for other people.

Glad you asked John. No there isn't but there is a correlation between schools in the north, gangs and drop outs. We are aware of Calif. but that is a different story.

I find it amusing that someone who cannot write a coherent sentence will trash others.

People like you are the reason others want to improve the public school system.

By the way, it is perform, not preform.

Spell check is your friend, use it.
