I am debating getting an electric dryer over a gas dryer.?

I have heard that electric driers make your electric bill soar, but it is only my wife and myself and our newborn daughter. So would our bill go up that much? I would prefer a gas dryer, but I can get a real good deal on an electric one.

Any help or past experience would be appreciated.

Is your laundry room wired for 220, if not it will take an electrician to make the hook up? We have never had a gas dryer so I can not give you a cost comparison.

We are a family of three as well. When we moved to a new home, we also switched to electric. Make sure you get an 'energy star' dryer. I have not noticed an increase in cost at all honestly.

    What's your definition of "much"?

Gas dryers are cheaper to operate, but more expensive to buy and install. They both dry the same. Your choice
