Cooking Question. (Potatoes)?

If I wanted to make potato salad but I didn't want to boil the potatoes could I microwave them until the are able to be smashed?

    You can microwave them, but it probably would take longer. Maybe put some hot water in a bowl and dice the potatoes and stick it in the microwave. I would suggest just boiling some water and just blanch the potatoes, for just a minute or so. Good Luck!!

    Sure, cook them in the microwave or oven until slightly soft. It doesn't have the same texture, but baked potato salad can be really good.

    you don't mash potatoes for potato salad. chunks and boil them for say 20 minutes because you still want a crunch in the potato. :)

    Yes. when they come out of the microwave leave it to cool, then cut it into cubes for your salad.
