Obama refuses to abide by the War Powers Act. Should he be impeached for it?
The War Powers Act of 1973 says that the president can use military force without congressional approval for up to 60 days in an emergency. But must go to congress after 60 days to get authorization to continue using military force. The not-a-war in Libya has been going for 90 days. Obama says he won't ask for congressional approval and will continue the war without it. This is a clear violation of law and an over reach of his constitutional authority. Should he be impeached for it? Can an impeachment be successful? What can be done to hold him accountable to the law?
The War Powers Act is the law of the land. It was passed over Nixon's veto in accordance with the process written in the Constitution. The courts have no reason to challenge the War Powers Act until a president is impeached for violating it. Even if the courts rejected it, it would not reverse an impeachment, only the criminal prosecution of the ex-president who was convicted of violating it.

I disagree with the War Powers Act, HOWEVER, it IS the law and Obama is violating it and is grounds for impeachment. But then again Obama raised his hand and promised to uphold and protect the Constitution too.

Yes, Impeached, but not convicted.
I think Boehner did a good job. Allowing funding, so our brave men and women in uniform have what they need to do the job they should not have been sent to do, so as to not catch them in the middle of the political debate at home, but stop short of actually authorizing it.Allowing the stain to remain on Obama's job performance record.
I said Impeach but not remove, Do not deprive the voters the pleasure of kicking this Bozo to the curb! We do not want the liberals claiming they lost because of Biden, but Obama would have won. .

Possibly. But it's important to note that no President has ever recognized the authority of the War Powers Act (it was passed over Nixon's veto). It's constitutionality also has never been decided by the Supreme Court (INS v. Chadha examined a small portion of it but did not rule on the constitutionality of the act), which would probably have to come before any impeachment based on it would be allowed to proceed.

How about he refuses to abide by the US Constitution. The War Powers Act is not even constitutional. The Constitution specifically says that only congress may "declare" war.
