What does a person, who doesn't really like to read, read next?

Greetings people of Yahoo! Answers,

I am a person who generally doesn't like to read all that much, but when I begin a book that grabs my interest I can't put it down. I've even been known to stay up 36+ hours reading. The problem is that I don't often find books which can do this; so I ask of you all to recommend some books that may do this for me. The things that I've read recently that I like the most include The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling, and stories about King Arthur and all associated characters (Merlin, Lancelot, etc.). Obviously I tend toward fantastic, epic stories.

Thank you good people.

Are you an Alice in wonderland fan? Of course, you could read the original, but Frank beddor's The Looking Galss Wars was a great book. It is about Alyss, was forced out of aWonderland after the Red Queen cut her parents heads off. It isn't as campy as I am making it seem, it is a really good dark-fantasy book. I am not a big reader, but I loved it.

Another good fantasy is The Kingdom Keepers by Riddley Pearson. It follows Finn, who has to protect the Kingdom from a handful of Villians. But he can only go to the Kingdom in his sleep. There is 3 books so far in the series so far, and they are all wonderful!

I would also suggest you try reading some plays. Seeing as how you like King Arthur, why don't you dip into some other epic plays? Othello is a great one, and I really liked Hamlet. But the play that has the most action, fantasy, and gore, is King Lear. All the plays are pretty short to a medium length, so you wont be troubled by reading them. and you can find them for free online on www.sparknotes.com under No Fear Shakespeare, or by them at a book store. They range from 5- 10 dollars.

    Hope I could help ;)

  • I love to read, but I'm insanely picky. The writing has to be good, there can't be too much overly descript purple prose, the story has to be intriguing. The best book I've ever read is the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima. The first book is The Demon King.

The beginning can be slow at times, but it does built and you get attached to Han, the main character. He becomes even more interesting when you find out he used to be a street lord.

PS: It's a High Fantasy. So it's right up your alley, I think.

    Oh . . . I love it . . . shutting up now.
