Are all Control Tower employees in the US working for the Military?

I told my Uncle about how Captain "Sully" Sullenberger was speaking out about how everyone's pay had been cut in recent years. That everyone was effected, even the Pilots and employees working in the Control Towers. My Uncle says that that's impossible because the employees in the Control Tower all work for the US Air Forces ( or something similar -- I am really bad with all the names of the Military and junk). So who are people in the Control Tower working for? In just a Control Tower for an ordinary civilian Airlines. Is it a mix of US -- Military or whatever and people employed by the Airlines or are they only employed by the airlines or is it strictly US -- Military ( whichever branch, I get really confused.. I am very sorry! I know this is very irritating for some people that I can't get all the names and stuff straight.)

Update:

I supposed I should also ask..

Has the Economy the last 10 years decreased their pay? ( My Uncle does not believe their pay has been effected)

About how much are they making? ( I think my uncle claimed they make atleast 280k or something like that -- He believes they likely all were well off to begin with because you have to pay for all your own courses and certification and exams... etc.)

Tell your Uncle to go crawl back into the bottle he found all this BS in. He's obviously been drinking something. The only air traffic controllers who work for the military are the ones at military air fields, and even then, many of them are civilian employees and not active duty military members.

Some air traffic controllers are employees of the US Government (FAA) and some are contract employees who get their pay checks from private companies. Pay scales are also all over the map, and depend on the type and location of the facility the controller works at, but No One in a control tower is making $280K per year.

ATC controllers, thanks to NATCO and the Obama administration have a great contract. They are civilian FAA employess (for the most part, there a few contract towers in the country) and with 15 years seniority they will make more than most of the 30 year airline captains they "control". Thanks to MSM, a moronic public, and a great PR department, most of the general population thinks that the average airline pilot can't find the toilet without an ATC controller to help him.

While some of those guys are great at what they do, the vast majority nowadays can barely recognize an airplane on sight.

Sulley's statement reference controller pay was made back when the last FAA Administrator, Marion (the librarian) Blakley imposed a concessionary contract on NATCO controller (NATCO is their union), this was overturned when our liberal democrat President overturned and gave them everything they wanted, whether the FAA could afford it or not.
