Smith & Wesson M&P.....?

Who owns a Smith and Wesson M&P in 9mm? What do you think of it? I'm in the market for a full size semi-auto pistol...

I have the full-size M&P 9. Bought it shortly after the M&P was introduced. I've had it for 5 or 6 years thus far.

It's been very feed reliable, just one failure to eject in 5000++ rounds. (And that ammo had been loaded and reloaded many times.) The trigger pull smoothed with use, and is quite light & smooth for a polymer wonder, though the reset is vague. It's comfortable in the hand, though S&W should have further scalloped the grip out underneath the trigger guard.

Mine shoots slightly low for me with 115 & 124 gr. ammo, I have been meaning to change the front sight out for a shorter sight for a long time. But if I use 147 gr. ammo it hits more to the top of the sight.

All in all, it's been a great pistol. Money well spent. I'd rate it as a straight A.

I love my M&P with the 4" barrel in 9mm. The grip fits my hand much better than the Glock and the original XD. I have not tried the XDm, but it might also fit fairly well as it has the interchangeable back straps as well.

However, I will probably get another M&P in full size, and customize it with Apex Tactical inner trigger works.

There are a couple of complaints with the M&P. It has a bit of over travel. The trigger reset is not superbly crisp. However, those do not bother me. Additionally Apex Tactical makes drop in parts that resolve these hang ups.

Additionally comparing the price between the M&P vs Glock vs XD, the M&P is more affordable. On top of it, if you are patient, S&W has rebates usually for $50 back, or 2 extra magazines.

Regarding S&W history. That Smith and Wesson was bought by Saf-T-Hammer company. In 2001, they renounced the Clinton agreement. The boycott worked and the old SW paid the price.

If you have any doubts about who to support, check with Tom Gresham of GunTalk, or the Gun Owners of America.

Love mine. I have the full size in 9mm. I bought mine when they were giving you 2 extra mags for a total of 4. I would definitely buy it again and might buy one of the compact versions.

It's better than the sigma and on par with your standard glock but I would not buy it. More because of S&W rich anti-gun history than the quality of there products.

I will not buy S&W. They advocated for universal registration and threw us under the bus in 2000 so much the buisness almost went under via boycott. HK hates the civilian market and only sells to us because they can't live on government contracts alone and HS-precison because they got an endorsement from a federally back murderer and didn't apologise.
