Good reason to fire employee?

I run my own skateboard company, it's a very small one and I'm basically in the beginning. I "sponsor" a few young skateboarding kids. A sponsored skaters responsibilities include spreading the word about the company and promoting it in any way possible. On Facebook today I discovered photos of one of my sponsored skaters going into a competitors store and partying. They also "liked" the company on Facebook. Do you think this is a good reason to let someone go? Thanks for your input.

No thats ridiculous. Is he still spreading the word? If so, one can go into any store he wishes, is he barred from every store but yours!? And as long as he's not bad mouthing your store on FB, he's free to like what he wants. Sound like a nazi.

Technically, each state is an "employment at will" state. Montana is the in straight forward words one to my information that has strict provisions on terminations. Georgia if I bear in techniques wisely is fairly lax, and also you would possibly want to enable someone bypass without fearing a significant lawsuit and such. you'll listen horror thoughts, yet they're often adorned and exaggerated, or taken out of context. quite, letting a non appearing worker bypass legally is reasonably straight forward. If she's no longer determining for you, affecting the youngsters, organisation, inspite of, you could merely tell her she's no longer necessary any more. i might want to, out of courtesy supply her some kind of caution in case you do not have any more already. in case you've already given a caution, and nothings replaced, then do what you're able to and bypass alongside.

You can fire anyone for any reason or no reason, unless there is a contract that says otherwise. That's because most employment is "at will" (this also means employees can quit at any time for any or no reason).

As far as whether or not this is a good reason to fire someone, I think it depends on how big a deal this is for you, whether you think this guy is a good employee or not, etc.

Personally, I would just ask him to take down the photos, and remove the "like", and tell him not to do anything like that again. You probably also should give the same info to the other kids.

Certainly, that is a conflict of interest. Stop sponsoring him. No big deal. Expect him to post bad things about you and your shop on Facebook after you tell him the news.

Yeah, I would let him go and let him know why. If you give him a warning, he'll complain about your company while you're still sponsoring him because you reprimanded him. But if you just let him go, he'll complain about your company without your funding! =)

No warning. this is a clear breach on contract. although verbal, it is a contract, that this kid had total disregard to and lack of respect to a mutual business responsibility. If it was me, he will be gone faster than a NY minute.

I would let them know what they did wrong and give them another chance. A second offense, let them go. He's a kid, he probs doesn't know what he did.

Since they're kids, give them a warning, and make sure they know what they did "wrong". If they do it again, fire them!
