Redirect bass frequencies on Surround sound.?

Ok i've set up a makeshift 5.1 surround sound or at least tried to. Ive connected a 2.1 stereo(built in sub-woofer) to the front left and front right. The rear left and rear right are hooked up to an old 4.1 system that blew its sub-woofer(took out blown sub). The centre is channelled through the old 4.1.

Here's the prb. When i'm playing games or watching starwars III in 5.1 mode, voices only come out of the centre (note no voice comes through front left and right). I want to get the sub-woofer frequencies to be sent through to front left and front right on the 2.1 to get the correct bass frequencies.

This sounds overly complicated and its difficult to understand your signal routing without actually seeing how the connections are made. I think your best bet for getting proper surround sound is to invest in a basic 5.1 receiver. Check out craigslist.org to find some astounding local deals that may surprise you.

I picked up a Pioneer 7.1 THX Receiver for $100 locally in excellent shape. It replaced my cheap Sony HTIB receiver that was just too underpowered. Hope this helps, good luck.

I think the connections were wrongly given. Check the front and rear connections. In general, in a 2.1 or 5.1 or 7.1 more bass is available from the single sub woofer and not from any other speakers.
