Did Reagan or Thatcher ever suspect that they were just merely puppets for big corporations and the media?

Update:

what about Obama? does he know that he is a puppet or is he" in on it" too somehow? how so and why you think so?

Update 2:

for example,,Who told or talked to Margarat Thatcher about which side to take in the issues during her Prime Ministership?

as was hearing she was solidly AGAINST "STI" and that Reagan was FOR it and they couldnt come to an agreement and met several times..and Reagain called someone on the phone to go and fly to London to talk about it,,blah blah blah..etc...so was wondering...how they came to their conclusions (reagain and Thatcher) and whereas today MOST people think that lobbyists control congress and the presidant today dont they? how this was different or how perceived differently by people and the political "leaders" back then?

did Thatcher REALLY think she was the one making the calls? did Reagan? what about Gorbachov? again, when, how this changed ? why so many think that all political leaders today are just puppets of big business? was this not the case back then?

please explain what you can

thanks for your answers!

Margaret Thatcher wasn't a puppet for anyone.

That large corporations did well under Thatcher is to be expected, she was for promoting business and the bigger and better Corporations always do well.

It was ever thus, during the Roman Republic there was a movement called the Gracchi who were against the ever increasing size of the Villas and large Estates, and were controlling the Senate and when the Emperors came into power the same accusation was levelled at them.

And as regards the negotiations between USSR, USA and UK, UK was a support role but Gorby realised the Soviets had to change or be left behind as USA was streaking ahead and that the once sidelined and nearly Bankrupt UK was back with a vengeance.

No they didn't - and they weren't. Is this a new conspiracy theory you are starting?

In the US, politicians pay more attention to lobbyists because of the vast amounts of money flowing into party funds but I still don't believe Reagan was a puppet. It's different over here where there are limits on spending in elections etc but Margaret Thatcher was nobody's puppet - as someone else has already said. We should go out and find the elixir of eternal youth, give her as much as she needs and bring her back.

Can you imagine how much more effective government would be if the sages from Yahoo Answers could only email these heads-ups to the idiots that have won national office
