Do you think its time Lisbon got a major European final?
The Stadium of Light in lisbon is the only elite stadium in Europe not to have hosted it but Wembley will have had 2 in 3 years, i think its time Lisbon was allowed to host one.

I agree, every other UEFA level 5 stadium has hosted the Champions League final but not the Estadio de Luz, yet it is really good quality. In response to the other respondee, it can still hold 65'000 people which is only 4'000 smaller than the Allianz Arena, venue for next year's final. Capacity isn't the only thing that they consider, they look at the quality of stadium and transport links as well.
People may point to it hosting the Euro 2004 final, but that was 7 years ago, and hosting another major final in the recent past, hasn't stopped other stadia or cities from getting the CL Final as well. Look at Holland; they had the 1998 CL Final, Euro 2000 and then the 2006 UEFA Cup Final in Eindhoven. Paris had the 1998 UEFA Cup Final and World Cup, and then two CL Finals in 2000 and 2006. Germany got the 2004 Final, next year's, hosted the 2006 World Cup, and also got the 2001 and 2010 UEFA Cup Finals.
It is about time Lisbon got something major. After all, it is also a huge economic boost to the local area to have such a game and concentration of people visiting the city. Obviously, if UEFA want to help a struggling economy (which Portugal's is) they would give a final to Greece, but they probably haven't got the resources to police such an event at the moment. Economic shots in the arm are why this year's Europa League Final was given to Ireland. Portugal could do with the same; for one night, they would get 65'000 people paying to see the game, and also requiring transport to get there. Then they would also want hotel accommodation, and food and drink. It could be worth millions in these straightened times.
Come on UEFA, the Estadio de Luz is ready and waiting.

Stadium of light? the 1967 final (still brings tears to my eyes) between Celtic and Inter Milan was held in Lisbon but not there. Celtic won 2-1.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time. Besides, it's not like the city of Lisbon has never hosted major finals:
Champions League, 1967: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_European_Cup_Fin...
UEFA Cup, 1983: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_UEFA_Cup_Final#S...
UEFA Cup, 2005: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_UEFA_Cup_Final
Personally, I have nothing against the idea of Lisbon hosting more finals, so don't get me wrong. But it's not like it hasn't happened before.

UEFA don't care unless the stadium of light can hold lots of ppl. Why? More ppl = More Cash.
I hope to see the CL Final somewhere else next time. Like Greece,Portugal,France,etc..

Im Irish and my entire relatives voted No. curiously, Brussels are calling us a shame. yet whilst France and the Netherlands rejected it 2 years in the past, it grow to be high quality, we moved on, now that we did, have been a shame? Idiotic Euro Trash ! i think of it relatively is unfair how eire is being regarded down on. it relatively is usually a similar. have been a small yet proud united states and in no way get respected. as we communicate is an occasion, we are saying our opnion and very nearly get stoned for it.
