Why the movies are all the same? Tron as same as Avatar...?
A guy with an average life who's found to have somethin special gets the chance to enter a different world who has never dreamed of. The world is ruled by a dictatorial king or something, and there would be also found a few good people and must have a brave chick. Repetitive series of actions which the good does a move after saying it's the time, the bad steals somethin, the good goes for it, they battle and battle and battle up until the final battle where the strongest bad character comes back and eventually the good survives with a gf after beating the bad with a help of a friend and/or a natural disaster.
The concept would be pretty much the same too, the wisdom of choices, determination, perfection, dreaming of other worlds and existing, rethinking of existence of God and philosophy, or not to think at just get your self hypnotized for the love of sharing their dream, which you get nothing of but being hypnotized.
This is not just about Tron and Avatar, many many other movies 'e.g. LOTR' are pretty similar in a way that forced me to say that's it. The teams behind those movies have INCREDIBLE techniques; no doubt. But why wasting it on the same IDEA? Does the media still think we're naive as 5 yr old! Isn't it the time for a story developement?
Wanna know your point of views about what the concepts that media sells, what you accept and what you leave. And the movies stratigies, aren't you guys bored of them yet?

If you're looking for movies the same, you can find several much closer to the concept than Tron and Avatar. What about Avatar and Fern Gully, Dances with Wolves, or Pocohantas. exact same plot.
I don't have a problem with the premise "average guy getting a chance to enter a new and different world". that leaves a lot of wiggle room to make a new and different story. most stories are variations on a few basic skeletons. that's not what makes them cliched. it's when you don't have anything knew or different to say about the basic idea.

I feel like a movie gets by either by showing you something new, or by doing an existing concept in a new way. I don't really mind when people rehash existing stories, so long as its done fresh. It's rather difficult to make entirely new stories, because new emotions don't pop up all that often; hence, you get countless movies about hopeless love, about struggling against all odds, about freedom in the face of tyranny, about fear, desire, etc. But when you get a movie that reconfigures a trope in such a way that makes it seem new, that makes you feel or think something about that 'same old story' that you've never experienced before, then it's just as good as getting an entirely new story, IMO.
Take LOTR. Yes, it's about the little guy going up against the big evil man (literally), but it communicates such character. The hobbits are so homey, so domestic, so fat, incorrigible, bumpkin-like, and charmingly simpleton-ish in a way that I rarely get to see. Gollum is so pathetic, so torn and emaciated, insane, but still grasping, that it hurts.
The human race has been making stories for about as long as it could communicate, so I don't begrudge the lack of new story ideas, but I will always despise what makes you FEEL something that has been done to death.
