Am I really ACTUALLY fat?

I gained about 55 pounds when I got pregnant with my daughter.

Now that she is year old, I have lost all but 8 pounds (yes, some of that weight loss was baby and fluid)

I am now 5' 3", and weigh 140 pounds, which according to height and weight charts, is overweight (by one pound). But I don't feel like I look nearly that big! I look at other women my same height and weight on shows like X-Weighted, and I feel like they look MUCH bigger than me.

I eat pretty well, everything from scratch, no meat at all, no white anything, lots of veggies... I exercise for 30 minutes plus 4-5 times per week... But according to these charts I am overweight...

Do I lack accurate self-perception? Or is there something wrong with height and weight charts???

    NO, you are not fat. I think you already know this, you just need just reassurance. Sounds like you right smack in the middle of the chart thing...I never trust those things anyways.. its all about personal body structure. You eat and exercise great, Keep up the great work :D

    Of course not. I calculated your BMI (Body Mass Index) and it is 24.8.

    Underweight = <18.5

    Normal weight = 18.5–24.9

    Overweight = 25–29.9

    Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

    While people shouldn't base their weight level from a BMI, for it's just an approximation, you are normal weight, and most likely your even lower like 21.5. Because muscle weighs more than fat. And since you exercise and eat healthy it's safe to say that you probably have some good muscle! Focus on positive features of your body rather than the negative. It helps so much and you will be much happier. Be thankful you aren't a 400lb man. If you live in the U.S. you should know what FAT really is. We've all seen it.You're beautiful. Stop worrying, and give yourself some credit for all the work you put into a healthy lifestyle!

    That being, you are far from fat. If you're going to buffets or indulging your self with Big Macs and fries daily. Then I'd start to worry.

    One more thing to remember... There are many variables that contribute to the number you see on the scale. Water weight, muscle mass, and believe it or not, everyone has bones and they vary in size/density that can add weight. Not significantly, but enough to make a difference.

    I took a water pills (diuretic) once, while it made me feel dizzy and like poo, I peed so much, and weight myself at the end of the day. I was 2lbs lighter!

    Take all this into consideration and remember to be positive. There's nothing wrong with you and you don't lack self-perception. Don't be so hard on yourself :)

    I have to agree that the charts leave something to be desired. They are based on a lot of factors. You might have some muscle mass built up for all of your exercising. I do know that vegetarians use the food they eat in a different way. I was really surprised when I read this article from the Men's Journal:

    It has a lot of information and I think it will truly answer your question.

    Take care!

    A pound is within the margin of error of most scales, and your weight can vary by a few pounds going through the day.

    Also, according to you're BMI you're normal, so maybe you're reading the chart wrong. look at the website:

    No..? Your 140lbs, how could that possibly be overweight?! Forget the weight chart, it could have been made by anorexic people.
