Is my house haunted? Or am I paranoid ?

Okay so we recently moved into my grandmas house(she died in 2006, other people moved in but then moved out so we bought it) and a lot of creepy crap is happening. I have been a skeptic all my life and i have never believed in ghosts until now. Whenever i would watch a monster or ghost movie i would get bored because i knew it was fake(this started when i was 8).I'm 15 now and thinking completely different about the paranormal. From the second i walked in i felt like i was being watched, at first i brushed it off that all those restless nights packing had gone to my head. All the time though the feeling surrounds me. Sometimes its so intense i feel like i'm going to vomit. I see things out of the corner of my eye, like shadows or things in the mirror. Sometimes i will lose things and find then days later in a completely different place. I hears footsteps outside my door and voices as well. My dog, who has never done this before, stares at my bedroom wall when there is nothing there, he growls sometimes to. My cat refuses to come inside my house and has become an outdoor cat. I read something online that said to get a digital recorder and ask questions, so i went out and purchased one and did so. I got nothing so i turned it on and left the room. My mom and sister were out shopping and my dad was outside with a friend so i thought it was a perfect time to get evidence. I thought i wouldn't get anything, but when i reviewed the recording the was this weird humming, and towards the end this loud growl. It really scared me and made me question my own sanity. I'm currently trying to get it on my computer. My dad says he had nothing happen to him but that his sisters and his mom said the house was haunted but i thought he was just messing with me. But now i think different. I feel like asking his sisters about they're experiences but i don't want them to think i'm crazy. I think i should go to the library and search the history about the area and the house. My dad hasn't had anything happen to him, but my mom has. She said she sees shadows of people outside the window, and sometimes her door will fling open. The door is a heavy wooden door that's hard to open as is, so wind in not a way to debunk it. My sister who is 7 refuses sleep alone. She says there are people in her room. Really i want to know what to do, i can barely stand this stuff any longer! It makes me terrified to sleep in my own bed or be in my own room!

Update:

Micheal jay, i really doubt it, and my dog was sleeping in the kitchen the entire time

You should contact TAPS or a TAPS Family group in your area.

Before you contact them (or any paranormal investigation group) try to get your aunts together and ask them their experiences. Also, try to do some research on your home. The investigators, if you can get them to come out, will also do research but it's nice to have a little history to get them started. With so many experiences, I can't imagine any investigator not wanting to come check out your family's home.

Whatever you decide to do (and I do recommend you get someone there to help you figure out what's going on), make sure they are reputable. You want someone who will rule out electrical and plumbing problems, who will debunk every experience that they possibly can, and who won't try to charge you money. (It's unethical to charge money for a paranormal investigation.)

Once you know what you are dealing with, you will have a better idea of how to handle it.

Lose the digital recorder and replace it with a bible(christian) because no matter how brave the evil seems they are paranoid of the bible. Your dad can not be telling you all, no offense to dad. Your dads sisters would open up like a faucet and if you can get them together when you ask them.

Yes, the cat knows. Smart cat & dog. I have answered various others that was 3 days old or less so check those out.

I only answer the people with real problems so you will know who they are.

There are possible explanations for most, if not all, of what you describe as happening. I noticed that one person referred to carbon monoxide, which is possible as is carbon dioxide at elevated levels. Problems with the wiring can also produce static magnetic fields which can cause hallucinations or the sensation of being watched. The growling sound on your recorder might also have various natural explanations. However, it would probably be worth having a paranormal investigative team come by since there have been multiple claims of experiences that might be hauntings.

Absolutely, I'd say your house is haunted! I had a similar experience in the last place I rented and the biggest tell is your animals! I babysat my friends can for a week when I lived there and he went CRAZY! Crying all the time ( not even meowing, but crying! ) and staring at certain spots with wide eyes and crying even louder. I have since had him stay with me at my new place and he was as happy as could be...sleeping in the windowsills and wanting to play as soon as I got home :)

Researching it might be informational, but it probably won't help you. It's probably why the last people moved out. It's one of those things that the best thing you could do is move, but you probably wouldn't want to tell the next people or they wouldn't buy it. Stuff like this happens all the time, but I certainly wouldn't ignore it.

I don't mean to scare you, but in the place I was talking about (my last place), I was renting the basement and a young couple with 2 children were renting the upstairs...no word of a lie, I swear on my life, while we were there (in only about 3 months) their 2 year old died. His mom just found him in his bed one morning all blue. It was so sad, it makes me sick to even remember! I know stuff like that happens sometimes, but I remember right before they moved out (very shortly before me!) the lady asked me if I had experienced anything odd in the house. I will always believe spirits had something to do with that boys death. Children and animals are most susceptible. Animals to seeing and children to being over took or even hurt...like everything else evil they (spirits) thrive on the weak and innocent. Like I said, don't mean to scare you, but I would be begging my parents to move AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Men in general don't seem as sensitive to these sorts of things, but I would be begging my dad to just sell it! Good luck!!!!

I know it must be hard, but you have something that I desperately want! And if you can get some good evidence, you can finally prove to the world that ghosts exist. I have lived in a new house too long with nothing happening in it and have been losing my faith lately about the afterlife.

Hope that the ghost(s) are harmless if they are there and your family will remain safe.

So definitely research this house! You could learn a lot... But if your house has spirits living it it that are possibly growling, that's never a good sign. See if you can email a paranormal research group somewhere close to you and see if they can help. Because it's a spirit or entity you should be ok to be there, but I wouldn't just brush this off... Contact someone!

it defenetly sounds creepy. i would put a few vid recorders in the rooms around you house for about 2 weeks and then see what happens but you should contact a paranormal investigator. also try not to think about it alot cause it will make you "see and hear" more things and scare the **** out of you. i know cause i love horror and the para normal and belive in the paranormal. i feel like things watch me as well sometimes and its very creepy. i also heard two men talking outside my window one night and when i asked my room mate to check it out no one was there. when he came in an told me this i shrugged it off but a few mins later heard them again. freaked me out but i just went in the other room and watched tv. i terrify myself on a reg basis. when i was younger and sometimes still i will have nightmares or be to scared to sleep where ive stayed up for days only sleeping when my bod shut down. its no fun to live in fear. so like i said try not to think about it as much as possible. if you get scared try watching a funny movie to take your mind off it. thats what i do and it usually helps.

So apparently low-level carbon monoxide poisoning can cause symptoms that have caused some people to have experiences that make them feel like the house is haunted. You might want to think about having the furnace checked.

Also, it's quite possible that the growl on the recorder was either a signal-processing artifact, or, you know, your dog.

That sounds cool can I come stay with you? I dont believe in ghost but if that true then they would get annoyed with me and my devilish music, with their high pitch demonic sounding screams and such. I live in the dark and I have failed to have anything happen to me except one time when I was driving and saw a shadow on the road. I am not gothic or a satanist BTW.

Have a family camp out in your living for the remainder of the time in that house.
