minor sends pictures "sexting"?

My daughter sent a picture of her boobs to a man on the internet whom she knows the real name of, and he left her a threatening email after scanning her facebook and asked her about what she would do if her pictures got out to her high school or family. The man is an adult while she is a minor. We have his real name and this email saying this. Is there any way i could take this to the police and not have my daughters reputation shattered?

They helped in the How to catch a predator tv show apart of Dateline. They can help you. They have a contact page that is the link. I think there is a phone number that can help you. They will tell you what to do and aid you. Good luck and I will be hoping for the best for both of you.

Hmm.. I defiantly see where you're coming from with her rep. But the main thing is to get that man called in with the police! He's a major threat! As for her rep, was the man asking/threatening for pictures? I mean if that's the case she didn't really have a choice. We were all kids once so I get her. I just think that a pedophile lurking on little kids, and may even lead to rape and murder (not to scare u!) is more of a story than a girl sending pictures of her breast, and if people give her crap, come on, like they have never done something like that before? Psh, right! Anyways! Let the police know about the pedo. And keep your daughter safe(: hope it goes well!(:

No. Simple answer is no. No matter what you do, it will end badly. Do nothing, pics go out. Tell the police, it's on the news and the guy, you and the kid would all be in a **** load of trouble and be used as an example for school for years to come. The only thing you could do is tell the police, get it resolved then move far away. FAR away. Hopefully it'd knock some sense into your daughter. I know that if it were MY daughter, she'd be in a **** load of trouble. Every electronic would be taken from her and not given back.

To be frank with you i wouldn't bother about her reputation at the moment, it's best to go to the cops ASAP! You don't know what this man is capable of and it's best he gets what he deserves, besides your daughter could claim she was pressured into it by the man, and not have her reputation shattered.

It's kinda normal for girls to do that now anyways (at least at my school). It wouldn't be something that would totally destroy her reputation in the first place.

ur daughter would probably not get in any trouble, since she is a minor. but it is against the law to send a sext. it is equally illegal for the receiver to not report it, so u could try telling the police that he didn't report it. on top of that, blackmail is illegal. u could probably trap him into a position where u promise not to send him to jail so long as he does not post the picture, and deletes it. u hav the upperhand because if he every posts it, u hav him arrested.

Don't tell the police because she could get arrested for producing child pornography. Unfortunately she will have to live with the consequences. I hope everything turns out alright for her.
