Oblivion freezes close to beginning, Deluxe GOTY ed. steam version?
But a few milliseconds after the guard says, "You stay here, prisoner. Don't try to follow us.", the game freezes. This is at the very start of the game. My system specs are far above the recommended ones, I have windows 7 64-bit. The game appears to be fine up until that moment after the short scuffle when they go through the passageway.
If you require more details just ask. (on a somewhat related note, why has the mouse sensitivity and keyboard settings reset every time I start the game?)
It's Fixed! Steam actually released a patch after that worked like a charm. I just had to restart steam and update, and after playing for many hours, there's no problems. And to the sole answerer, $8.50 for the deluxe GOTY edition is a bargain not to be sneezed at, so I was unlikely to ever buy the disk version.

The Steam version of that game has many issues with Windows 7 and Vista. And apparently Steam isn't really too interested in fixing them.
I always suggest that people get the disc version of Oblivion rather than download it from Steam. Also with the disc version u don't have to be online to play the game.
