How to reset my internal alarm clock?
Hi All,
I seem to be having a big problem falling asleep at night and it is really starting to get on my nerves. I am 17 years old and since the beginning of June I have had a lot of trouble getting to bed in decent season. Before school ended I noticed that I was going to bed and sleeping later than usual on the weekends but didn't really think much of it. I would still go to bed around midnight on school nights, but I had to wake up early for class so it wasn't a huge deal. Now that it is summer I have been going to bed as late as 4 am and sleeping until around 2 or 3 pm. I feel bad when I do this because I have missed a good chunk of the day. I tried setting my alarm clock to wake me up at a reasonable hour, but I did not even hear it go off. Last night though was the worst my sleeping has been. I pulled an all nighter because I wasn't tired but then ended up falling asleep around 7 am and slept into the late afternoon. Tonight I am worried I will be up all night again because it is 2:30 am and I am not tired. I want to be able to sleep normally again but I just can't seem to. I don't want to keep wasting my summer sleeping! What would you guys advise me to do? Also, do you think this is insomnia?

I know its not isonmia because I have it and I have different troubles but anyways just try forcing yourself asleep at a descent hour that's what I do even though I don't "feel" tired I still go through the same process of going to sleep then get in my bed and I sit there and try my best to sleep and try finding something you do that makes you calm like I can NOT go to sleep without watching southpark so everynight while I try to sleep I put on southpark on my ipod and it helps me relax and go to sleep and if all else fails go to your doctor and ask for sleeping medication there is one medication that's like sleeping pills bur not addicitng and you do NOT need a doctors prescription for it its called "sleeping aid" so go to your local drug store and try and find it. Hope this helped sweet dreams:p

Nope, just bad sleep cycles getting the better of you. What I did was I stayed up for a full 28 hours and then I slept from 5:00 pm to about 8:00 am. Your body will be begging for you to go to sleep at that point, so you shouldn't have any trouble doing it. After that, my sleep cycle was back to normal. Of course, I found out that I didn't really care that much and went back to a lousy cycle, but if you use diligence, you can stay on a healthy cycle from then on.
Oh, also staying up for 28 hours is painful. Just keep that in mind.

It is not insomnia. I had the same problem. What you need to do is ex cerise during the day and you will be tired at night. Drink some sleepy time tea. Also, the bright light from the computer will keep you up and keep you stimulated, so shut down that computer!! Just lay down in darkness and after you have done all of the above, you will get some sleep.
Also, you need to get into a habit. Go to sleep and wake up at the same times everyday.
& YOUR CURED! :)
